        I've tried this for the Date but no joy ;
        # date +%Y%m%d -s "20140716"

        P.s whats the ftp username and password pls...

        ssh/putty logon info
        logon: root
        password: letmein
        This fixed the date issue

        Open an SSH Session
        Logon with root username & password
        Type date -s "yyyy-mm-dd hh:m" (eg. date -s "2014-07-22 17:47")
        Press enter
        then type hwclock -wu (this will keep the time & date settings following a reboot)
        Close the SSH Session

                        i used the xbmc app from the official repo to backup everything from my android installation and then restored it to the Linux version, everything went perfectly. you don't need a file manager, you can tell it to backup directly to an sd card or usb stick, and you can choose to restore directly from usb storage too

                                Backup using WinSCP

                                I have successfully managed to take a backup of my .xbmc folder on this build using WinSCP v5.17 and choosing SCP as the File Protocol then installed this version on a second box an used WinSCP to copy the addons and userdata folder to the .xbmc folder on the second box. I had to copy the advanedsettins.xml file from the .xbmc/userdata to the second box, restart the box, then copy the rest of the contents of the .xbmc/userdata to the box, then finally copy the .xbmc/addons folder to the new box, reboot and settings are the same as my other box accept the skin defaults to confluence.
