Success , m8 direct hdmi to TV , optical to amp , OE set to 1080p 60hz and all is working perfect as you stated

Just on the subject of wifi speed, I've found that my M8 emits a ton of EMI so I have to put it at least a few feet away from my wireless router or it kills my broadband. Worth bearing in mind.

Thank you codesnake, an interesting find, I read somewhere in the forums that the S802 was unable to bypass DTS over HDMI, something related to licensing issues, I've tried sometime ago with old roms and indeed it sent only noise, so I went for SPDIF due to this reason.

I was gladly surprised to learn that this openELEC version is capable of doing DTS bypass over HDMI, in fact it does play anything I throw at it on HDMI, including 96/24 or 192khz FLACs

          Thanks again, amazing work

Unfortunately currently this is not possible. It will become possible when I build my own bootloader for M8.
As a temporary workaround you can create a startup script on one of your boxes and change the MAC address. See an example here: http://www.aboutlinux.info/2005/09/h...s-of-your.html

I have a mxIII..2gb. Can i use this one on my box? It's hard to find out if the M8 and MXIII can use the same firmware. And will cec work on my box?

                Thanx for your great work.

Personally I didn't test MXIII, but I think it should work.
Please remember - you use the firmware at your own risk.

                    Hi codesnake,

can i just install this on my 1GB / 8GB box ? its not an MXIII but i am now running some russian openelec 4.2.0 rom on it that was build for 1GB box MXIII but they stopped that development or something.

it runs fine, but i think its still different from your rom for some reason

and since you are busy with it creating updates i rather go for your rom

Unofrtunately current M8 build is only for boxes with 2GB of RAM, but I'll create a new build soon for the boxes with 1GB of RAM.
BTW what box do you have?

I think that except of different housing and the remote, MXIII 2 GB version and M8 are almost identical.
You can also consider the MXQ box, which is based on S805 chip. It has less powerful GPU, but is cheaper than S802-based boxes and features support for HEVC hardware decoding.
