is there an easy way to get the led light to perform properly? eg: when in sleep mode it's green and when powered on it's orange.
    Can this be easily changed?
Three days of testing can save 10 minutes reading manuals

I think you can't change that.

Pointing out an issue in the bootloader of both Stanes linux and this openelec. There seems to be an issue with the sound, when the usb prots have something plugged in, while bootup the audio drivers wont start or something like that and I get no audio.

          Thanks

Yea I just installed this openelec on my m8 today and I also have sound issues with some files I am playing from my nas.
But at least this openelec may save my m8 box from the garbage lol.

                ETA MXQ OPENELEC?

Just wondering if you could ballpark an ETA regarding the release of openELEC for the MXQ boxes SoC.
Tytyty for all your hard work!

                    Hello Codesnake,
I really appreciate your effort to port Openelec to the M8. I tried your Kodi based Rom yesterday (coming from Stanes linux rom) and I was really surprised with the build quallity and features of Openelec. I don't own a square M8 but a Beelink S82/Tronsmart S89 or whatever it is called (Orbsmart S82 in germany ~~ / its the round one^^) and your rom just works fine. The only thing not working is the remote but I will try a few remote.conf from this forum when I'm home and I have a remote usb reciever for my Harmony so it's no problem at all.

The main reason for me to try your new rom was Kodi. I would love to convert my whole library to the new HEVC codec and save a lot of space on my HDD's
I converted one episode of Breaking Bad from x264 to x265 and it did play well on my computer.
But here's the thing: I tried to play the same file on my M8 but playback was really poor (File is on a HDD connected through USB 2.0). Sound and video where out of sync because the video wouldnt play at full speed. I just tried Hardware and Software acceleraton but do you have any advice wich settings are needed to play HEVC files? The quad core cpu should have more than enough power to stream HEVC-coded files of a USB HDD. Or is the USB 2.0 the problem?
                    Sincerely
                    BonzenPaule

The answer is simple - M8 and all Amlogic S802-based devicesdon't support H265 (HEVC) hardware accelerated video decoding.

                        Unfortunately no ETA.

Well shouldn't Kodi help out with that problem and decode it by software? I was hoping it could play those files with Kodi since you can use the 4kplayer app on Android to play them.
Is android the only way to play hevc files?

If I'm not wrong it's a problem at kodi at the moment which they have to fix (I think also at SoC's with hw decoding e.g. rk3288)

Well that would mean there is a good chance for working hevc decoding in the future. I hope you are right and will wait for new kodi releases :-)
