Interesting thing I notice on this forum though, it seems like Cube can do "no wrong" to it's supporters & pipo can do no right, those who seek answers sometimes get sarcasm instead, definitely not helping. How do you know it's "very few others" and 99% anyway, you did statistical analysis? You have cube's sales figures vs returns?

In general terms, people are posting here in a vast majority to solve their problems..that's this forum main purpose.
So, mr.Chow... what are Cube's service center reply for your problem?
You find many others on Cube's FB page with this kind of malfunction?
Found something usefull on those german forums you mention on FB page, like some methods for a quick fix?
If you have some spare time could search in 4PDA forum /Cube area but I can tell you for sure you won't find anything helpfull who fits your above described problem.

Thanks, when I said it was stable at 1.08, it hasn't started crashing yet, as you can see from my posts dates it all took place within a few days. Cube service centre asked me to download complete 1.07 package instead of doing ota updates from 1.04 to 1.07, then do a factory reset, then see whether it is stable before sending back. This was through the aliexpress seller so not sure whether it was cube direct response but I did it anyway, same.

And as I said, I thank you for pointing out the artifacts part as you are right, everyone else was discussing reboot/hang but no mention of artifacts so until you mentioned it, I thought I was facing the same issue that others managed to solve with a firmware update as it appear to be same problem. Now I know better thanks to you

Well...... right now it has entered day 3 without rebooting once with cpu max freq set at 1.2ghz... not very ideal & I better not say 'stable' yet just in case..

Agree with you devilz-wolit, out of 4 pipos, 4 jiayu hps, 2 ainol novo hero II, 1 ramos i9 & 1 t9, so far only 1 pipo & this t9 defective, in total still very much value for money. Not sending the T9 back to china, so I'll have another digital photo frame to put around the house while looking for a new tablet

I'm the proud owner of the new t9. That being said, I replaced my previous 9x with the conviction that the new t9 had a working magnetic compass. Seems it does not. Also gps supposedly supports glonass and beidou but I don't see any of those satellites during locks... Anybody know something I don't?

Magnetic compass is a missing feature from T9.
Glonass and Beidou are described in specs but haven't seen any Glonass by now...guess is a firmware issue who will be fixed sometime.
As you can see Beidou are present - last two from the bottom. (max. 5 pcs. visible for me in sunny days)
In my opinion GPS are working really nice for a tablet, with 1 meter accuracy.

Agreed, gps is very good. The compass thing I find confusing because it has a magnetometer installed and according to some threads I read it is a matter of firmware and solvable... (wishful thinking)...

OTA updates are not available if you are rooted. You must flash the stock firmware in order to get the update.

Cube has locked this firmware down in so many ways....I would hesitate to flash my ROM for now.

As I learn more, I will keep anyone posted. If anyone has info concerning this quest for a way to customize this tablet.

Compass is not available in T9 ....
Magnet installed works to turn on / off the screen when using a flip cover

It looks like there won't be anymore updates from cube so rooting the device would not be a concern anymore.
the future relies on custom Roms and I hope Riley will have a lollipop version at some point...

It seems impossible that there are no more updates!
The firmware 1.08 does not completely solve some problems, including the random blocking (still popular).
To have a custom rom Lollipop for cube T9 need a package MTK drivers that I am not available.
In addition, the RileyRom 1.0 is absolutely not working.

The T9 is now more than 6 months old and cube has had new tablets since.
development cycle for Chinese tablets is very short so I expect they they name moved on to their new flagship model.
i am afraid that what you see is what you get... I hope that I am wwrong.

hammerjoe, you are wrong: cube talk 9x that is a lot older than your T9 have received latest FW upgrade on april 2015, so I think that T9 is still under development by cube

My T9 keeps crashing today with the screen mess up like the one I posted earlier.
It has crashed 6 or 7 times today.

It's weird I didn't update any apps or changed any ssettings I wonder what's causing the crashes.

The blocks are completely random and are convinced depend on bugs in the operating system.
