Yes you cannot change busybox in /sbin because it is in boot.img and whatever you do, boot.img will change it back. This is why you cannot edit init.rc either!

But as I said, busybox or ANY APP that uses it should not care what is in /sbin. So your having some other issue my friend.

No I think you've misunderstood me, I didn't have any problems updating busybox; v1.21.0 is in /system/bin atm via the installed.

The problem was Trickster MOD seeing the version in /sbin first and complaining about it being out out date. That's no longer the case after my rename routine.

I'm not super clued up on unix, but am I correct to assume that system run-time should not be seeing /sbin at all? Should the busybox installer be detecting the copy of busybox in /sbin to report the multiple copies?

tbh, now that Trickster is working, this is no biggie, but it's kinda intriguing!

I installed 1.7c in my MK808 but have black screen in Antutu and must power off device. Why

Almost everything works excellent with my MK808 and Finles 1.7c, except for one annoying thing.
I have my stick hidden behind my flatscreen TV and i only connect and use it via remote from my cellphone.
That works very much well until i (not very often) have to reboot the stick.
After rebooting i can't connect via remote because i'm not getting an IP-address. I'm using NIC adapter via USB and to kick it alive i have to connect my keyboard, go into settings, turn LAN off and on. After that i works flawless again...
Any ideas anyone, why don't i get LAN connection after reboot? It's kinda annoying needing to pick out the stick from behind the TV, connect keyboard and activate the LAN every time...

You will find that annoying thing in every ROM and every stick!
They default to wifi mode on boot. I have looked into this but have not yet found a way to switch it on boot.

init.d wont do it as it is too early in the boot process. I think it may work with a APP or a script run by Script Manager APP which runs scripts much later in the boot process. I just have not had time to figure all that out yet.

Guess i have to go back for a while to using WiFi with the remote then
If anyone knows a solution or have any idea's i'm more than willing to try them out

                    Question for Finless Bob,

Are you compiling different kernels for all your releases for MK808B or is it the same kernel?

                      1.7 freeze and shuts down

                      Hello,
I have an original mk808 and have implemented the 1.7c ROM (March 15, 240). Although I can see lots of benefits with the new version, it continuously freezes and shut itself after several minutes.

Have anyone encountered that phenomena? or
What am I doing wrong? :-)

                      Downgraded to 1.6 for now

You are seeing the sleep mode! Just turn it off if you do not want to have the unit go to sleep. Did you read the readme?

                          Thanks for replying that fast!

I read the readme but didn't suspect the sleep as the network connection was there and the unit was used during that time. I can double check again.

Is the sleep mode ON or OFF by default?

It is off by default however I have seen some APPs being reported that turn it on and then remove the NEVER option from the sleep menu. I never get exact feedback on what these APPs are that do that but it has been reported before.

And yes to what Pieri said above. If it is crashing and shutting down there maybe a power issue. Many are using this 1.7C rom now and not having the issue your reporting.

FYI: Glad to have no problems here with defaulting to my usb ethernet card after reboot. Switched wifi off and ethernet on, and it stayed that way since. No problem.
