Had to switch back to default output and then back again to get it to work.

Did you have SPDIF passthrough available with the previous release?
I take it that you are using neon.1.7.32.rev1 codec?

I echo that.
The ES Media Player does very well and the only formats not recognised are .ts and .m2ts

I loaded RC1 tonight and I really like it! I didn't erase Beta 3. I just upgraded to RC1. I don't know if that matters.
Here's what works well:
Youtube 4K
MX Player with 1.8 codec
ES Media Player (Part of ES File Explorer)
BT
Ethernet
Here's what needs fixing:
Using HDMI passthrough audio if you skip the MKV video ahead a few minutes you'll lose audio. MX Player and ES Media Player both have this issue. If you kill off the app you get your sound back.
I will try my tests with SPDIF out and see what I can find.

I ran some tests of MKV files with HDMI passthrough and although I could replicate the lost sound, it was not consistent.
Sometimes I would lose sound, sometimes I would get crackle and hiss and sometimes it would be fine.
Also noted that when I either get no sound or crackle and hiss that playing another file for a few seconds and then returning restored the sound correctly.
Can't fathom out any clear pattern as it can happen on files with varying audio tracks but found it mainly to be with 5.1 and DTS.

yeah , mxplayer 1.7.40 uses either 1.7.32 or 1.7.32rev1 and trying both codecs resulted in no audio when enabling spdif passthrough.... video playback is also super jerky , despite how vivid and crisp the actual video appears as you mentioned. thanks bro... and a big thanks to wasser too since i've always been a fan of his unparalleled effort and work...

I tested SPDIF audio out and Default audio on all of the MM roms here and I can't get it to work on my Tronsmart R28 or Beelink. I tried it on 3 Yamaha receivers and 1 Pioneer receiver. The video won't play either on any app when Default audio or SPDIF is selected. It's not an issue for me. Just an FYI. HDMI audio output works great for me on those receivers.Tronsmart R28 PRO with wasser-2.0.7-beelink-r89-rk3288 ROM and MX Player
