Thanks to Gormar, now I know that both Ver.2.0 and Ver2.1 have the same LAN chip, which is RTL8201F.
He gave me detailed explanation and informed that all of your kernels have to support LAN based on this chip and described all the differences among two revisions of boards (please look at his post#1310).
But issue hasn't disappeared with these obtained by me deep knowladges
LAN doesn't work properly with lewy 2.0.4 HFW for me and for many people too.
I had spent an half of night playing with it and figured out that LAN was working some times, when I tried to swith resolution from 1080 to 720 and back. But I couldn't find any definit combination so as to make it being working all the time. LAN can appear after reboot and be out of range after the next reboot.
I had been too tired from this so returned to 720p stock firmware and tried to flash your last kernel from 1st of November.
I have faced with situation when my CS918 is rebooting every 319-321 seconds. It doesn't matter if I run some applications, watching movie or do nothing at all. But within every these five minutes I was able to make some test of your kernel. It looks excellent! AnTuTu was near 19200 scores and online mkv 35GB movie via LAN connection was flawless(each next five minutes after reboots!
Wifi work perfectly, up to 80 Mbps DL and UPL!
Stock remote control turns device into sleep mode and wakes it up correctly. Wired mouse and my T2 airmouse wake it up too.
I don't know where the problem with reboots is. Probably, I have to flash another ROM and try to test it with your nice kernel. Which one would you recommend to me?

I have disabled wifi, and about first part i would like to post that info, but i dont know where to find it? My knowledge about android is very simple, read instructions and then flash the box That worked excellent with mk808, now is first time that i have problem. I suppose there is log file somewhere?

Output from command: "busybox ifconfig eth0" would be a good start.

Besides. Did you disabled WiFi in Settings?

the stock k-r42 firmware or 1.2.0 (HFW) firmware only works with stock kernel, if you are using my kernel with stock rom or 1.2.0 (HFW) rom you will get such reboot!

Please avoid such combination

Same thing for me. Wlan is working fine on all custom rom-s. Speed is ok, but i would like to fix ethernet too.

Miracast issue

One thing needs to be clarify about miracast, I try to connect sony tablet z mirroring using wifidisplay with cs918, and always got not support HDCP, is this cs918's problem or sony's. Any suggestion? Seems sdk2.0 mention about support micracast does it mean to be device or server?

Hello, after flashing lewy roms (i have tried 1.20, 2.03, just xbmc, even that rooted version of factory rom). On all of them i had same problem. Ethernet not working, sometimes device receives ip adress but it's slow and most of the times dont receive ip adress at all.

It's normal with Lewy's rom with new K-R42's - new PSB v2.1! And don't worry about it

@dzidek. It isn't normal on PCB v2.1 which almost all of us have.
I must admit that there is something strange with LAN function in these devices but it isn't so simple to track.


Before yesterday I had HFW 2.0.3 installed with newer kernel from wasser and "ifconfig eth0" didn't show any RX errors. Today when I checked there were litteraly billions:

But I'm almost 100% sute it is some kind of mistake because these numbers newer change even after reboot or power off . Maybe they will be incremented when real errors occure but I didn't see that so far.

But I have my suspicion that same random reboots which I experience from time to time are connected with network traffic because these situation appear most often when I download data to my device. Especially aDowloader is a real party killer ;(.

at the bottom of the case, under the rubber feet are 4x screws,they need to unscrew,

I also experience a lot of packet loss when using the 2.04 rom.
I don't have a clue what's causing it cause connecting an other device doesn't give any packet loss.
It seems to be something on the device.
WiFi seems to work perfectly, but for streaming, a LAN connection is much better.

First I want to thank you and Wasser and any others that have helped for your efforts in improving these devices for us.
I have a k-r42 using your Beta 2.04---- Do you plan on releasing a "stable" version of this and if so do you have a estimate as to whether it may be this month, next month, or when?
By asking for a "stable" version I am not, in any way, complaining about what you have done. I think it is great. I am just wandering as you had other versions that ended with a stable version.

Thank you very much! Finally ethernet working. I have changed about 10 custom rom-s, and this one from your link with name update-rk3188t-bx09-android4.2.2-yigeweiye-20131101, was only one with working ethernet for me. There is just problem with chinese language, so you need to remember how to change language in settings. This is not stock rom, i see is modded, there are few apps that i dont need, ut ok.

One more thing for noob like me rom is not rooted, and you may need root permisions for some apps to work fine. I have rooted him using lewy app root genie. Very simple tool, here is link:

To root it just click on the option Connect to pc in k-r42 settings, and enable usb mode. After that start program and connect box with otg cable to pc, and click on green box Simple as that and it is rooted (works on stock rom too i have tried, even my phone HTC Evo 3d

It has saved my time.

It seems like I have found temporary 1080p solution for people why have their CS918 with V.2.1 board's revision and LAN issues.
I flashed my box with your ROM for T-42, but with the your last kernel for K-R42.
I haven't had anough time for doing my tests, but I have both LAN and WLAN working now!
I tried to stream two huge size movies from an Internet via LAN w/o any stuttering issue. First was about 48GB TS type and second MKV 57GB with DTS audio codec. I used MX Pro with HW+. Total duration of my test was more than 5,5 hours. Any reboot and any stop.
Power ON/OFF button on remote control work properly. AnTuTu 4.0.4 showed me 18999 scores.
One bad thing I have noticed so far is when speedtest runs, system crashes and go to reboot with the UpLoad part of test. DownLoad is perfect.
