I'm not much into DRM, i believe in open source.
But to give you any more help I need more infos. Because "I have a problem" says nothing to me. I need details, as much as you can give.
The exact error message, at leas a screen shot if you got any on screen error message. Or much better, a ADB log file from the moment the error occurs.

Here you can get ADB for Windows. On my MXQ I was not able to use ADB over USB. So I used the WiFi ADB app instead. And here you will all infos about how to use logcat

After my first custom ROM for the Z4 RK3368, I decided to make my next rom challenge with my already dust covered "bricked" S905 tv box.

... and BOOM ... now this lame duck is a pretty solid low budget android TV box.

Custom ROM ( image / firmware ) for the MXQ PRO 4k - p201

This custom rom mod is based on the UGOOS AM3 V0.0.7 TV firmware

Important Note

This ROM has already driver of the following Realtek WiFI chips included

• RTL8188eu ( >> works << confirmd by Milchen83 )
• RTL8189es (BOARD MODEL: MXQ-S905-D16 VER:1.0 DATE:151021)
• RTL8189fs (only V2.0 SSE)
• RTL8192eu
• RTL8723bs
• RTL8812au

My p201 Leelbox has the RTL8189es WiFI chip. So i can guarantee you it is working with that one. If you got another version of the MXQ PRO p201 box, that has one of the other Realtek WiFi chips build in, give it a try.

Hi Coolio,
I tried your rom on my beelink mxiii (s905, 2g, realtek wifi) because I wanted to really do everything with only a remote (waf issues lol) which can not be done with regular android.
But I had some problems...
I can only connect via wifi, it doesn't seem to see my rj45 cable connected : quite a problem for "real"hd movies which lag on wifi.
Even with the original remote.conf in etc I can't get the remote to work.
The framerate switch is perfect but audio passthrough doesn't work for me.

I keep an eye on here in case of a update, thanks a lot for the work done.

Lol .. these cheap chinese boxes are so different, even when they look like the same. Looks like they don't change this shit even not for the remote control.
Here you can find a full instruction on Redefine any Keyboard, Gamepad, Remote Control key.
BTW, Play, Pause, Forward and so on, will ony work in case the apps (like Kodi does) support this key features.

In case my ROM it is not working at all, or some things are not working for you. Sorry, I can't help you anymore. No time at all, for this. As I mention already in this thread. This ROM was only a lessen learn side project to me. But feel free to use my ROM as a base of your own S905 port. So that it works also with you box/stick.

HI! i have a generic box with the same specs that have the mxq pro 4k has amlogic s905 and p201 board, should this rom work on it?

I have the Transpeed mk809v plus amlogic s905 2G/8G and this rom worked amazingly.
Just have a few concerns.

1. Can I disable the voice search. It tries todo it in almost every app
2. Can I get the full usability of my RAM. I have 2G and its says I've got a total of 700 something MB
3. Is there a way to access the button that brings up settings. I like using Advanced task killer but cant configure it because there are no options

I've given your firmware a go on my MXQ Pro 4K (P201).

Impressive work. It will give these old boxes new life. I was able to run a lot of stuff usually reserved for Android TV.

That said, here's what to expect vis-a-vis real Android TV devices (like Nvidia Shield)

Netflix for Android TV (4K) - This requires heavy DRM so don't bother sideloading the Android TV versions. Stick to the mobile version (480p limit).
Live Channels - minimum Android 6 required so you can't integrate the channels into 1 app with Episode/Program guide
App switcher - only available on Nougat for Android TV
PIP - same, also available only on Nougat.

After a little puttering, this build doesn't allow write access to USB drives.

I followed this link to allow it;

I use torrents on my android tv boxes (to replace my old HTPC setup) and this worked quite nicely.

Maybe you can include the change in the next iteration.

Yes that is possible in serveral ways.

1. If your ROM hasent root check first this instruction to get ROOT, via ADB (WiFi) should work on any S905 device.
   Then start googeling on TWRP images for S905 devices and test them, until you find one that works to flash my current ROM image file
   Here is an easy video instruction, on how to install/uninstall any custom recovery like TWRP on your device.
2. Short PIN 29 + 30 with a needel of your Nand Flash Memory, to activate Masked recovery Boot Modus (in theory the same what the rest button makes)
   I had to do the same once with my MXQ Pro Box, to flash a nother rom once. Because the rest button was disabled by the Stock ROM
   Note: Every NAND Flash has a small round indent, in one of its corner to show PIN 1. PIN 29 + 30 can be found with the help of the picture below.
   
   
3. Soft Brick you device totally, then It will go automatically to NAND Flash recovery mask mode.
   I did this once by mistake, cause my dog disconnects the power cable at that moment the NAND Flash was totally wiped. First thing that happens when U update a Stock ROM via SD card method. So not the what I want at the moment, but I realized than that this will also bring your box to NAND Flash recovery masked mode.
