Is there a possibility of downloading the factory image from https://developers.google.com/android/images and use on this device?

sorted...used
"On Magendanz file share unter the q201 folder http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...ms-android-7-1 you'll find a verison of the Nexus Stock image that runs well on the M8S Pro box called Nexus_q201_Stock_NHG47L-20170825.img. When checked with Root checkers is says it is not Rooted, so this should get you out of trouble..."
then used an app called Safe Unroot...and problem solved

Well a long night of testing. I started with the Adndroid TVSTOCK Rom. Loaded fine and happy to see an image file. Started with Play Store and that's about as far as I wanted to go. As soon as I clicked on the "search" icon it would drop me back to the main screen. Tried several times and same occurred. I side loaded Kodi and several other apps with great difficultly. The Latest android version continues to be a user NIGHTMARE. I continues to be so protective of what you load and permissions. A good example is Kodi will not find a USB device or a network NAS which has not been a problem in past. End of testing Android Stock TV Q201..
I next loaded Stock and other than the funky way to of getting setup. I finally loaded and could get to the main screen. For those with an android device it wants to duplicate apps loaded on your phone. Not exactly what I wanted to do. My TV boxes are just that and my PHONE is my PHONE. Don't want Google to flood the device with those apps. Finally called it quits while it was doing this in the middle of the night. Next morning I had a copy of all the phone apps loaded on the M8S Pro. Not what I wanted Well at least the Play Sore worked. I repeated same test with several apps (Kodi) and same issue.
Back to 20170808 through a previous IMG to get to back to where things are more normal. OTA of course not available in the 2 above mention roms..
This device was referred to as "PRECIOUS" which I must assume it refers to "LORD OF THE RINGS" movie. Very apply put!!!! If I remember the Precious had the ability of making things invisible. This it does in both iterations I tried. If you want to play with the latest version of Android this is your Baby.. If you want a TV media player Stay away.
In my humble opinion Mecool and many other box manufactures have dropped the reason for making these boxes in an attempt to get the latest version of ANDROID. That's a problems. Google is making the latest versions of Android so LOCKED that it defeats the original purpose of these boxes. Today. If I could android 5.5 or an early version of 6.0 I would be loading it was I write.
Many should think why there's big effort going on to get to Linux versions running on these boxes. Right now I can get LibreElec running but through a USB thumbdrive approach. It still appently runs on the android infrastructure which limits external sources for writes to external memory. This box would be a ROCKET running a version of LibreElec loaded to the firmware.
I hope I haven't stepped on any ones toes, and if so please accept my apology in advance.

Hmmmmmm seen this and had to say something. Not stepping on toes but you really need to start looking in threads that state the obvious and have your DREAM openelectric CRAP not here then. Id try here http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...12-sd-usb-emmc
The fact is its already working and linux / plus other distros. The support for 820 gpu not there yet so if your device has it your screwed.
As a media player it actually works awesome. Boot time is about 90 seconds compaired to linux at 15 so if you cant wait that long at boot you have your prefered software. OPEN ELEC in my view bit limiting and android is only as LOCKED as you let it be. 7 is opened alot more doors as will O but then again if it isnt your cup of tea then use other options out there.
The software from manufactures always flawed thats the nature of china gadgets. This device rocks on Developer software. but then again its doesnt have to be your cup of tea..... Some prefer coffeeMany devices now mk902ii/Shield/Mk68 /Ugoos/neox5/minix5 (yes they still work lol) mk80 no it doesnt work lol.

If you'll recall, that setting was pretty flakey, so I'm not surprised VideoStrong changed it. (It would frequently get out of sync with the current visibility, requiring you to toggle it back and forth several times.) Also, I think the swipe up method is a little more discoverable, and it's how Android 6.0 and earlier did it.

Ahhhh, got it, it's the pull up action that I was missing. In the past i've just hovered over the bottom and the bar apprears. Yes the pull up approach is much better. Thanks
And once again, I'd just like to say thanks for all the work you do on these forums and the New Roms. I really appreciate all your efforts!!!

I run Guest Nexus Stock Rom and the TV Launcher from Awesome Development and I have a fantastic TV Media Player, It's solid as and so easy to use even for non technical people (My Wife).
Here are some screenshots of my setup

I'm just on my way home at the moment. When i get there i will update this post with all the links you will need to compleate this task.
OK so this is how I would do it (there are other ways I'm sure)
1) Download Burn Card Maker from here:
http://chinagadgetsreviews.com/downl...er-v2-0-2.html
(Have a read of the "How to use Amlogic USB Burning Tool" section)
2) Download the Amlogic burn package (.img file) from #129 post on this forum
http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...230#post662230
3) Run the Burn Card Maker and create a bootable Micro SDCard with the 20170707 Image.
4) Insert the SDCard into the M8S Pro and power on the unit with the recovery button pressed in.
5) This should boot and automatically start the install process.
6) Let this finish and it should reboot at the end of the process.Y
ALL FIXED !!!
Your info was very very helpfully for me... Many many thanks... You saved my tv box and me....

My plan is to update the existing M8S Pro custom ROMs one last time today, but then deprecate them going forward in favor of the new Precious ROMs. What do you think?

Good evening to friends in the forum
I've read all the posts and tried all the roms including those nexus, my problem is DRM as the TIMVISION App works with windows playready. Unfortunately, the M8s pro is not equipped, you can implement it or do something to get around the obstacle. With beelink GT1 ultimate android 6.0 I succeeded with rotated app; But with M8S pro it is not possible
Thanks for the work you do

Hi All,
PLEASE HELP ME
I bought a MECOOL M8S Pro TV box and I'm +- satisfied with it. HW is OK, Android 7.1. within its capabilities as well. For about €EUR 65,- it's OK device - it has 3 GB of RAM and the Amlogic S912 processor. But I have one control problem. I can not find a controller that would know MULTITOUCH to rotate and zoom in as usual, such as on the phone (pulling two fingers, pinch). I have some great astronomical programs, but they can not be used without such control and they look really great on big TV. I bought the Rikomagic RKM MK705 3 in 1 Air mouse, it's a super control, but it CANT ZOOM AND ROTATE. I tried a SW that promised to link an old Android phone with a TV box to act as a controller but it did not work on the ZOOM and ROTATION. I tried Handy Smart TV, Remote Android TV, Smart iRemote, Cetus and many other, but with no success. I would like to have somebody advise me the driver or the solution he has tested and it can ZOOM and ROTATE. Thank you

Hi,
I've installed the nano, stock and TVstock ROMS on my M8S pro 3/16GB 7.1, but I can't get the ethernet port recognised and activated. Wireless works ok but not as reliably as ethernet. I've reinstalled the original ROM and the ethernet works fine, I'm assuming it's a driver problem, can someone please let me know where to find and how to install the drivers.
Thanks for your great work, it's much appreciated.

That's really odd, since I use Ethernet on this box for my networking exclusively. I don't make any driver or kernel changes, so I'm not sure what's causing this problem with your unit. Can I assume you did the recommended data wipe (a.k.a. factory reset) when you installed from the OEM firmware?
Are you maybe talking about the Precious ROM for GT1 that I released? It will install on M8S Pro, but there are known issues with Ethernet.Last edited by Guest; 15 September 2017, 20:22.
