VideoStrong just released 20170918.111557.V0619 firmware for the M8S Pro L. While the bootloader is incompatible with the M8S Pro, I was able to use the last OEM M8S Pro bootloader and create an AML burn package (.img file) for us to play with.

Note that this is a quasi-ATV build (has Google Play Store for Android TV, but not the Android TV Launcher), and it's also locked down with some proprietary form of Android Verified Boot (AVB), so we probably won't be able to install TWRP anytime soon. However, I was able to mount the system image in Ubuntu and make some tweaks to the build.prop and launcher logo just to customize it for the M8S Pro. So far, it seems to be behaving well.

2 problems
1. This box is root ( I have checked it via root checker apk ) but i cant give it premissions with supersu apk. Any idea ?
2. I cant change the launcher, i install the nova prime but after restart returns to the default launcher !

1. Whilst the box looks rooted, it not, have a look at this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpMhnL_fACU
2. Once rooted uninstall VSLauncher. And you will be able to set your favorite launcher as the default..

ok thanks, but for to installing twrp be make reset , this method it means I will lose the setup which I have made, correct ?

hey guys,
i have downloaded the sd card version by mistake(MECOOL M8S PRO SD 20170817)lol
i have tried numerous ways to load this firmware:
1.sd card pin hole method - just boots to current setup
2.updater app on system - just reboots to recovery
3.twrp gives me this error message - E3004:THIS PACKAGE IS FOR M8SPRO DEVICES,THIS IS A Q20X ERROR 7?

anyone experience the same,anyone know how to update/load this firmware?

No, you are just using TWRP to install supersu.apk. No changes will be made to your setup....

Hello my friends. I bought this box and I have some questions. My firmware is 20170524.163713.V0321. I read that this box is unrooted! But it is not unrooted! Root checker find that it is unrooted. When I run cosmote tv go (Pay TV apk here in Greece) it says that my device is root! Why? Can I fully unroot it with some way?

Open Terminal and type the "su" command. If you get a root prompt (ending in #), then you're rooted. Sometimes utilities like Root Checker are looking for evidence of SuperSU or Magisk and miss the factory root.

OK. Thank you for the answer my friend. I will try it. But my problem is that pay tv app finds my m8s pro root and it cant play. I want a clean rom or a way to full unroot it. I tried "Nexus_q201_Stock_NHG47L-20170825" but it is rooted. Is there twrp for nexus rom to root it with supersu and then unroot it?

Ok I did it install twrp & supersu following this video but I did not manage to through as default the novaprime launcher .
With root unistaller apk freeze deufalt launcher and ui system but after restart the launcher not change to nova prime .
what else do I have to do?
