Having this box for a month now, everything is great except chrome can't play majority of videos embedded (movies, Dragonball super episodes etc) while my android phone and pc can, same sites. Where I suspoosed to see the video, only "this plugin is not supported" . I tried Chrome, Opera, Firefox and Dolphin, no luck. Some help?
( P.S. And why the hell WiFi is so slow with this box?!)

I have 2 M8S Pro boxes one is a few months old and I have updated it to the 2017-05-24 release (#62) and rooted it with the tech4all youtube video (#92), then uninstalled the crappy launcher and the MgmtSupport & BCenter apps that kept crashing. Have installed TV Launcher, netflix, Stan, Plex, spotify, etc and everything is working great...

My second M8S Pro box arrived today from gearbest.com it has a brand new Build on it "M8S PRO-userdebug 7.1.1 NMF26Q 20170707.094011.V0321" on it.

Does anyone know where I can download this, to update my older box? Or if there is a way I can extract this build off my new box? Then I will share it with the Forum...

If you install my signed TWRP recovery, you can image the partitions there: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AoqocX31ecnXgZxtkrP-5OuapLil_Q

My preference is to use the dd command in Terminal. Just navigate to your SD card or USB drive, then type

        dd if=/dev/block/system of=system.img
        dd if=/dev/block/boot of=boot.img
        dd if=/dev/block/bootloader of=bootloader.img

If you zip up these files and share with me, I'll be able to package them up into a burn package (.img file) or OTA updater.

I just found this, will give it t a try: How to pull your own stock Android firmware from your device - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyUainEJwLM

        Thanks Magendanz,

I Factory reset the M8S Pro first before taking these images and I have not yet rooted this device, so they should be close to stock roms...

        Here is the share: https://1drv.ms/f/s!Ah-yuUYlPd2QnJw2esZrfcNPA2uhsw

I put both the 3 DD copied img's and a full TWRP backup there for you.
        M8S_PRO-7.1.1_NMF26Q_20170707.094_imgs.7z (DD copied images)
        M8S_PRO-7.1.1_NMF26Q_20170707.094_TWRP-Backup.7z (Full TWRP backup)

If you can create an OTA, that would be fantastic.

So, we obviously had to lose the stock recovery partition when we installed TWRP. So, I'm going to leave the OTA update without a recovery.img (so it will just leave the stock recovery from the previous build). For the burn package (.img file), I can put in the previous stock recovery or the latest TWRP. Do you have a preference?

Sorry, I'm a bit of a noobie at this, so please excuse me if this is a dumb question....
When you say "we obviously had to lose the stock recovery partition when we installed TWRP." I simply copied your TWRP recovery.img to a SDcard and booted from that... So the recovery.img in the TWRP backup I uploaded, wouldn't that be the original one from the 20170707 build?

I've just booted from your recovery.img again and done a
              dd if=/dev/block/recovery of=recovery.img
              Here is the share: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ah-yuUYlPd2QnJw3gchoc9DXnmsy6g

              Does that help?

No, the TWRP recovery replaces the stock recovery. However, not many people prefer the stock recovery since it has so much less functionality than TWRP.

Here's the Amlogic burn package (.img file): M8S_PRO-NMF26Q-20170707.094011.V0321.img

                ...and the OTA update: M8S_PRO-ota-20170707.094011.V0321.zip

The MgmtSupport & BCenter Apps are gone... So no more Random "bbbbbb and cccccc" Notifications or Crash messages.

Also my Wifi seems a lot quicker - Speedtest is showing 95Mbps down 38Mbps up (100/40 service) using the 5G radio. So very happy with this.

The crappy launcher that can't be overridden using the standard "Home app" setting is still an issue. So you will still need to root your device and uninstall vslauncher if you are not happy with it.

Other than that seems like a solid build. Still early days though. I will report back if I find any issues.

One other annoying thing is that if you check the box to see if it’s rooted, using something like Root Status, it says that it is rooted, even though it hasn’t been…
This is a pain because some commercial apps won’t work on rooted devices.
This is nothing new in this build, was the same before, but shame it’s hasn’t been fixed.

Does anyone know how to fix this so as the device is correctly identified as not rooted?

Thanks, I'll check it out now...

                        OK - Checked out great!

I have successfully upgraded my 20170524 M8S Pro to 20170707 using Magendanz OTA (#128)
Great job, really appreciate you help on this @Magendanz
                        Thanks!!!

Once I had upgraded I did have to root M8S Pro and uninstall VSLauncher to get things back to using my TV Launcher by default.
No loss of data or configuration!

Other than that I ran TWRP and restored the old MECool Logo as the 20170707 OTA seems to have a NEXUS logo...

Doh! Sorry, I will fix that logo right away. :-(

UPDATE: If you refresh the OTA update, the logo issue is fixed. The burn package didn't have the issue.

Would appreciate any feedback you can provide. I've tested on 2G16G and 3G/16G configs, but don't have a 3G/32G box to test them on.

TVStock variant (Android TV) is coming soon.
Now I have a M8S Pro play box I'll give these roms a go next week (away for the weekend) I have a 3G/32G variant....
Thanks again for you help with the 20170707 OTA.

I've loaded Magendanz rom of the 20170707 Rom and all all seems to work fine. I've tried the net speed and as reported its might have a slight improvement but slight. Not much has really changed but it is rooted. Over tried both supplied media platforms and all seem to work fine. The play a variety of movie formats and video and audio seem to work fine. I haven't tried on multichannel audio formats but don't think that would be an issue. The box plays files through the network from my NAS and other network connected device with no problem. It can play recording from USB devices such a thumb drive and hard drives, but it still cannot record and write to these devices.
Support for the M8S Pro keeps coming pretty fast, it would be nice if someone from homebase would add some notations of their changelog. The box has a flaw which seem to be a software problem that none of the othe boxes have. In my opinion a MeCool problem.
