Just a thought on my experience with KODI freezing similar to your picture and not sure it is related to yours. My KODI was freezing when I was trying to use an "air mouse" and it was happening only with KODI on two different boxes, one was an H96 pro plus and another was a MeCool M8S Pro. I would get the exact same error screen you posted and my problems ceased when I removed the "air mouse". I replace the air mouse with another identical and the same problem returned. Like I said, this my not be the same cause as your problem, but just wanted to relay what I found. The freezing problem would not happen with any other app that I opened and used the air mouse on either, just KODI.

Thank you for your help! Air mouse has created the problem. I tried with remote, with a second keyboard and no problem. Thanks again Click image for larger version

If this new M8S PRO L ships with Widevine L1 support, it looks like a very promising piece of hardware: http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...uetooth-4-1-hs

I don't know much about the Widevine L1 support, is that quite a step up from the hardware in the M8S PRO without the "L"? Just curious to know... thanks in advance for any advice you could give.. john

No, the hardware looks identical. That's what led us to believe that the L was for Widevine L1 support. Unlike the M8S Pro+, though, this will have an 8-core CPU, DDR 4 DRAM, dual-band WiFI and Bluetooth 4.0. (And it hopefully won't also have the M8S Pro+ tendencies to randomly freeze and restart.)

          I noticed the "M8S PRO L" has DDR3

That would be unfortunate. Strange that they would roll back to slower DRAM, though. Maybe the L stands for "lower price"?

The truth is that we really don't see a big performance benefit from the DDR4 DRAM, though. The lower power may reduce heat load, but the benchmarks aren't anywhere near the 2x claimed.

My unit easily goes to 80+ c during the summer days. What is your experience with the overheating of the CPU. What is the thermal range of operation of the s912?

I've got one on the way myself, and my plan is to release ROMs for it as soon as possible. There's always the chance that I could end up bricking it during development (which happened once with the GT1 Ultimate), but that's unlikely.

Thank you very much I buy one me too! You are a hope for us!

Guest won't the normal m8s pro s912 nexus custom Rom or any of your s912 nexus rom work with this new m8s pro L box?

It should, but I'll have to take a look at the device tree to confirm. For example, there's an Ethernet change in the M8S Pro that proves a problem for the all-in-one ROM that I've been using for the GT1 and most other devices based on the Amlogic q201 reference board.

What are some of your opinions on the temperatue of the CPU on the M8S Pro? Is the life of the box affected by the temperature rangining as high as 80* C and if so is there a firmware load that is known to keep the temperature lower than that? I am using the Stock load right now. If not have others used bigger heat sinks and fans to lower the temp. It seems to me this box runs hotter than some of the others I have such as the H96, which runs cooler (58*C) after loading the Tanix T8 Max firmware, or the Mecool BB2 pro (approx 72*) with factory firmware. What are your thoughts on this? I am using the app CPU Z to monitor these temps.

The enclosure is so well ventilated that I haven't had a problem with overheating. That said, I live in a fairly temperate region. You could easily upgrade the heatsink.

Hi, I got my new Mecool M8S Pro (3/16) and I have some questions:
              - is available last OEM firmware ROM for downloading?
              - my box has ROM 20170712.142340.V0321 and Update apk say "new version cant be found" - is it normal? Isnt the last version 20170801.150811.V0321 ??
              - is way how update pre-instaled TV Center apk (now v. 17.1), or better use standard Kodi?

              thanks!

The latest OTA update can be found in this Forum at #145, If you are a new user to the M8S Pro, it's worth having a read though the forum and you'll pick up all sorts of tip's and tricks...

The Latest Rom is 20170801.150811.V0321, I've never seen the OTA actually update Over The Air, however you can use the OTA tool to update once you have downloaded the new rom and put it on a USB sick or Micro SD.

There are also Stock rom's available for this box have a look at these 2 forums:

I personally run the Stock Rom and have put exactly what apps I want on the box and changed the VSLauncher to TV Launcher.
                Have a look at #188

With your last question, you may need to root your box, have a look at this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpMhnL_fACU
Then uninstall the pre-installed apk's you don't want and then install your favorite flavor of KODI, etc...

Don't be afraid of playing with the box and looking at different ROM's. If you get stuck and brick your M8S Pro, have a look at this and it should help you to get out of trouble (you will need a full image not the OTA above, also found in this forum)

As I said, have a read though this forum, there are others doing similar things to you and you will find lots of useful info.

Have Fun, it's a great box!!!
