H96 MAX RK3399 Tv Box 4/32GB

Hi guys, I still have some problems:
1) Can't power off using remote control. I must remove the power plug. I can't change the attached USB disk without power off the box, because every attempt to connect an external HDD reset the device (maybe power is not enough ? Often the external HDD is not recognized too...)
2) Power Supply is gone after 24 hours. Which power supply unit can I buy for that ?
3) Audio.... better don't talk about it: any new new firmware coming ?

You should be able to format the external disk in storage settings that might help it recognize it better.

If you follow the instructions and links in this video there's a different firmware update available that is "said" to have most if not all of the issues people are mentioning fixed. I'm not entirely sure of the source of the firmware since it's a google drive link, so flash at your own risk!

That's a great idea thanks. Do you have a picture of where these hidden ports are located on the board? Also I think it'd be good to solder a 2pin connector in case you ever have to replace the fan if it burns out.

Thanks but I already have the (latest?) firmware 2017-09-21. Are you able to power off the h96 MAX using the IR remote control ? I'm trying to understand if mine is broken or is a diffuse firmware related problem (as the audio one, as I can understand reading the forum).

I don't want to format my external HDDs, I have a lot of stuff on them. It's weird that just connecting an external HDD to USB port makes a reset of the box. I suspect a power problem: there is not enough power to properly drive an external HDD ?? I'm using WD Elements, 2TB, 2.5" USB 3. disks.

You need at least a 5V/3A power adaptor to use an external hard drive.
Cheap 2A(that are really 1.5A) power adaptors that ship with the box won't do.

I did a size and md5 hash comparisons and no they're not the same. Unless someone repackaged the rar file ...

I suppose you are talking about firmware you linked from youtube and the 20170921 linked by atboxshop.
I flashed all the firmware I found (including the one you linked) to make tests, and no one solve my problems. The latest I have seems to be better than others but still have audio issues, power off issues, and so on.

I'm still waiting for my box to arrive from gearbest. Which firmware are you talking about as far as "latest" and what makes it "better" than the other ones. There's also a firmware by EBox too... So honestly I'm trying to get info on which firmware to flash myself. It seems some people are having issues while others aren't. Like the dude in the YouTube video not having any issues. It really sounds like hardware issues. Have you contacted your provider where you bought it from for technical support and maybe a warrenty return? Have you done anything with the hardware like hardware mods to cause issues? Have you tried a factory reset through android recovery?

- resolution was limited to 1024x768
- no audio
- can't power off

After a lot of reading I tried to do am hardware rest with no success, the I applied updated stock firmware and with the latest I found (september 21) I solved the resolution problem and the audio now works (when is unconfigured from the settings - this is a known bug) but still no dolby or dts passthrough working.
I found my actual firmware on this forum in a thread about stock 7.1.2. and, yes, is the better I found at this time.
PS I have no hardware mods, problems comes with a new boxes just from unpacking.

The optical audio through kodi is a known issue. You need to use another player such as VLC or MXPlayer..

I believed he had said to use restore....I am using his beta 1 version with my H96Max device and flashed the kernal only from the Sept. firmware..It seems to be running ok...still waiting for his beta2...I guess the last firmware was not good enough for him to modifiy and release his Beta 2 version...Plus he has a life...Hopefully the next firmware update will upgrade the quality of the bluetooth...I have to be no more than 2 ft. away to listen on my bluetooth headphones..
