Another report here: I've got a S649 chip. I only booted stock firmware the first time, didn't check which version it was. I upgraded to Magendanz's ATV rom via OTA, without any problems. My device is working like a charm since then.

Well... The problem is, i update the box via usb tool and i brick. but i update the box with another fw and i unbrick.

My question:
How update the fw? via OTA or Local? I never work with this boxes.
How can update the box via OTA? I search but i cant find nothing!
Anyone can help me?

Just boot to TWRP recovery and install there. The next release will have a new update app available from Settings->About->System update. (This is already available on the M8S Pro, M8S Pro L, Beelink GT1, and Vorke Z6.)

you want to update your Box , only with Windows or Linux possible , u can try the SDCard Way , but no

guarantee that it works .

What are Youtube and Netflix resolution for this device with stock firmware?


Does the device get too hot to handle, or is it acceptable with a bigger heat sink. In my opinion as long as it stay below 80°C is acceptable for me.

I can't find the post I wanted to reply to any more, so here it goes.

I read you fitted 22x22x10 HS to the Pro+ and 28x28x10 to the Pro L.

Are those the biggest size that can be fitted or was that just the biggest on you had?

I'm holding off to order both boxes, and have no intention to do any other modification than bigger heat sink.

So i want to ask if in that case the heat issue is really disastrous on both boxes or should a bigger HS only fix the issue?

I have actually the same questions for the M8S Pro L.

Both devices, the Mecool M8S Pro Plus and the Mecool M8S Pro L, play Netflix in 1080p with DD+, and YouTube in 4k. See my video. The Plus does NOT get excessively hot, but the L does get hot.

First: My friend offer me this box because he bricked. He try install the nexus rom. Freeze screen with NEXUS logo.
Second: I unbrick the box with install a original image (see bellow in the photo) via USB Flash Tool (with usb cable)

Actual state:
Can i try install a new rom nexus? Please, help-me!
How can i install a TWRP in my mecool?
And, what file i can make a download tu put in the card? (link please) Now, i try install via sdcard mode

Looks like you've got one of the affected boxes that got that bad batch of Samsung eMMCs. You'll probably only get it to run that factory-installed firmware.

Yes, you can install LibreELEC without reset switch and you can dual boot.

Hi ,

first if the Nexus Rom is not a specific CustomRom for your Box , u can not installl it .

U can use it with StockRom or CustomRom for M8S Pro , if you can find , a working TWRP ,

can be installed with "root" like in Post #796 from maddone discribed , or with BurningTool .

Yeah, it's usually only the really new units with the Kingston eMMC that don't have a reset switch. Before it was there, but just in an unexpected place behind the front right grill next to the LED.
