There is a high res picture of the Kingston board a page or so back.
Front right of board next to eMMC is k12 - Four pads - Short Front L to R

Just FYI, I did another rolling update this evening to address the following minor issues:
        • Set boot animation speed back to standard (not sure why VS messed with that)
        • Set Android version number to correctly match the build ID (NHG47L => 7.1.2)
        • Fixed preinstall script to stop overriding the 12/24 hr clock setting
There's no formal update notice for these rolling fixes. You just need to refresh your download. For most users, they're not even worth mentioning, but you could elect to do a quick OTA update in TWRP and no data wipe would be needed.

If the current factory build is running ATV with a custom launcher, could the end user go to Play Store, install Android TV launcher and use that as default? For people who are stuck on factory firmware at least that might be a better option.

It now includes all the key layouts and key character maps that ship with Nexus Player, NVIDIA Shield TV and the Xiaomi Mi Box.

Also we will need a bluetooth antenna (or not?)

            Finally, will it worth?
I swapped with RTL module 1.0, but in android no wifi. It was 0619 or 0629 something rom. LE from sd card works, wifi is connecting, all good.
Bluetooth does not work. In mecool android - no bluetooth menu, in LE if I enable bluetooth and going to bluetooth menu, it says that no adapter found.

Pulled that module, and soldered to a Tanix TX3 mini (instead of another sh.tty sci module). There is rtl8723bs driver in that tanix android, wifi works, but no bluetooth menu. In LE wifi works, bluetooth no, the same adapter not found message.
Wifi and BT antenna is the same pin, same antenna.

              Nice job.

You'd have to update the kernel and system with the new WiFi kernel modules. Bluetooth, unfortunately, is more complicated and would require a complete rebuild with different precompiler directives. You might actually be better off trying to adapt the M8S Pro L firmware.

Is there a command to change display refresh rate to 50hz, 60hz, 24hz without going to the Settings/Display/Screen resolution? If this is possible maybe there is a way to run script with keymap in SPMC to change to the desired refresh rate.
In my case FTMC (I seem to remember the same is true with SPMC) can auto set the refresh rate using the FrequencySwitcher addon (https://github.com/jeff2900/Kodi.AmL...uency.switcher), while the same addon does switch the frequency rate in Kodi, however the new refresh rate is not detected and video is (even more) jerky...

EDIT: Just had a livechat with geekbuying and asked which FW Version and eMMC Chip is on the device if I´ll buy a second one now. The answer was complete rubbish
(CPU: S905X Vierkern - Cortex-A9 ) and then the laptop was unusable (something with script does not answer and has to be closed ). This was the end of the chat....
To be fair to GeekBuying (and the other vendors), the only way to know exactly which version of the eMMC chip is in the TV box you'll get is for the rep to go to the warehouse, pull the one that' will be shipped to you, unpackage it, take the rubber feet off, take the 4 screws out, open the TV box and look. The rep you're speaking with may not even be in the same country as the warehouse the box is being shipped from.

Sh*t... not great if you're living on a Caribbean island and have to get stuff in when friends happen to drop by... ie no easy exchange possible :-(
Ordered box just a day or two before the whole eMMC chip stuff came to light, hoped I got away with it when Iooked at firmware version.

In your previous version (20170825) Netflix was running fine. Only with the latest that is not. Don't know what could be the issue... tried to uninstall and install again from the store and nothing. The app install normally, but when you try to open, it goes to black screen. It not freeze the BOX, since I can go to the home screen with the remote... but the app dont run.

Maybe I could try an older version of the Netflix app, but I dont know where to find older versions for Android TV.

Regarding the PS3 controller apparently it is more hard than I was thinking! Do you know if PS4 or XBOX ONE controllers would work?

                      THank you again!
                      Hello!!

I will try to do as suggested:

                      1st - Factory reset.
2nd - Start Netflix app first or stop other apps

I will report later the results.

Regarding the PS4/XONE controllers, any ideas if it works?

                      Thanks.

It's been my experience that the Mask ROM mode reset is pretty reliable, so you should be able to restore your 20170829.121614.V0321 OEM firmware.
                        .
Thanks for updating the warning, I'm supposing the warning should be updated to add that Mecool is removing the reset button as well.

Update on the reflashing the original firmware .img file that I downloaded from here - doing a flash in Mask ROM mode isn't working either. The process gets to 98% and the infamous "[0x30405004]UBOOT/Partition system/Verify patition/Error result" message. A couple of things of note, though:

                        1) Tried USB Burning Tool (UBT) 2.0.5, 2.07, 2.0.8 and 2.0.9, have same results with all.
                        2) The light on the box is red/blue. If I start UBT then short the NAND pins 14 & 15 (I referenced the Z69 pic) and plug in the USB cable, the PC dings in Windows and the flash starts. However, if I plug in the USB cable without shorting the pins, the PC also recognizes the box and UBT starts the flash process.
                        3) Tried flashing with the power plugged in to see if having enough power would make a difference; it didn't.

Question for Magendanz: does the 20170829 .img file you posted here have the UBOOT from the OEM 20170829 firmware? You'd mentioned earlier building that .img with UBOOT from other sources. Also, best I can tell Mecool never released the 20170829 software - which is odd considering they've released all those other ones.

No, I never got the full OEM burn package (.img file) for 20170829.121614.V0321, so the uboot binaries are inherited from the previous OEM release (20170815.182813.V0321).

If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? However, take a look at the release notes to the 20171001 build. The V0619 update was significant, in that it upgraded from Android 7.1.1 to 7.1.2, included May 2017 security updates, and fixed some serious bugs that prevented access to More Settings and made buttons and menu items in the action bar disappear. Subjectively, it also feels much faster.

                        Hi.

Finish the tests. Factory reset, only one app installed --> NETFLIX.

Tried to run NETFLIX and only black screen.

Tried after run youtube and worked fine.

Tried after run Google Play (Movies) and only play the sound... no picture of the movies.

                        Any ideas?

                        Thanks!
