Amlogic Next8HD8G (NX008HD8G) Modified Recovery - Stock Rom & Flashable Root

Quick Question

After reading through some of the posts here I wanted to verify this before I attempt anything on my kids tablets.

Info for their tablets:

Name:Nextbook HD 8"
Model: NX008HD8G

One is June 2013 and the other is July 2013
June S/N: YFG0613123614
July S/N: YFG0713008972

Both are updated to have the latest update from Nextbook and are running:
Android: 4.1.1
Kernel: 3.0.8-gla280e6
Build: JRO03C.v009

All that info given, I see that there is a difference between newer and older models and it would seem that the older models work with this method of rooting. My question is, does the update alter the root methods ability to work?

Are you sure you uploaded and linked the correct file? If so, where did you get this?

According to the build.prop this is a 4.0.3 ROM for a Coby tablet.

It does not appear to be a 4.1.1 ROM for a Next8HD8G (NX008HD8G).

Did you make any modifications after rooting and before dumping it?

I have long suspected that eFun is modifying ROMs from other vendor's who also sell tablets made by Yifang Digital, but this is ridiculous...

This also looks a downgrade from 4.1.1 to 4.0.3. The build date of this ROM is July 2012.

There is no way this is the correct ROM. Try downloading it from the link you posted and verify it is the file you intended.

The ROM I downloaded from your link is in a file named dump.zip, which contains a system partition with a july 2012 build of android 4.0.3 for a Coby MID8042 tablet.

At a glance, all of the other files look right, but the system partition is definitely not correct. I don't think Coby even sells any Amlogic based tablets. Maybe you zipped up the wrong system partition?

This one doesn't have any system folder. I need the system folder. I think it's the only thing I don't have.

When I turn on wifi it freezes then reboots. No error. I tried the stuff you had listed in mid september. I don't remember the error as I tried to do it several times and got no results. It could have been me doing something out of order not sure. I failed so hard before I started by not backing anything up to begin with.

Yup was a bad flash and I also opened the files to look. Still had the wifi issue and wiped, then rebooted and had to repeat again and it worked. I recommend a "Dummy's" guide for less advanced like me lol.

Cool. I think that is the newest serial I've heard of. Can you download a build prop editor app and look for the build date? If it is newer than 10/13, please dump the ROM.
