Amlogic Next8HD8G (NX008HD8G) Modified Recovery - Stock Rom & Flashable Root

ShaunMT - first off, thanks much for your development efforts here. I purchased a NX008HD8G earlier this year and rooted with no probs. I purchased another last week and applied the same procedure - froze on bootup (woman with headphones). I attempted to restore the stock rom and it's now completely black. No reset, no color, nada. I then found Jiero's response above and it looks like I did the same thing he did.

It is a nextbook NX008HD8G with serial YFG101309... manufactured Oct 2013 (bought from walmart). Hope this helps and thanks again for your work.

Thanks for the info. It sounds like eFun changed something in the hardware on the Oct 2013 models. Unfortunately, I can't do anything about it until I receive a dump of the ROM from somebody.

I will update the OP to note that these files don't seem to be compatible with that build date. Hopefully someone can root one with Cydia Impactor and dump the ROM for us.

Yes, will not boot at all, no recovery, no screen backlight, nothing whatsoever. Same whing as cchomebrew, with the exception of the S/N, which is YFG1113042017, build date 1113 ("MANUFACTURED NOVEMBER, 2013", the box says). Going to return to Walmart to get a new one. Thank you for your time and help. Attached are photos of the box, if that'll help for other people.

Try to get another one with a 1013 or 1113 serial. You can most likely root it with Cydia Impactor, then dump the ROM for everyone else with a bricked tablet.

I wipe the cache twice before ROM flash, same thing. Tried over and over.

Am i right that the ROM wouldn't install completely if custom recovery wasn't present?
I am getting a complete intallation for stock rom, so i am safe to assume that your custom recovery is working on my tablet, correct?

You are correct. Without the custom recovery, the signature verification fails and the install aborts before it even starts to write anything to your device.

It sounds like something changed in the hardware in October. We need an October or November ROM dump.

YES, no problems, using windows version on WinXP computer.

Followed your dump instructions from a previous post.

Looks like the upload will take about 2 hours. It will be 5 file download in 7z multi-part format. Download will be from my Dropbox account.

I did the same thing. I got this tablet for Christmas and I tried to root it with the zip file. Now it won't boot past the woman with headphones. Unfortunately I downloaded it from a different site and did not get to see the warning messag.... And I am afraid to try anything else because it seems to get worse for other people lol

After rooting my tablet, all boots up fine, but settings->storage shows that my internal storage is full. Is this a permissions problem? Tips on how to fix?

SD card mounting issues (as well as wifi issues) are often caused by corrupted cache or dalvik cache. Wipe cache and data (data contains the dalvik cache). You may have to wipe more than once before the problem resolves itself.

In my exploits to root and rom android devices I've been brought to unleashedprepaids.com androidarea51, and many other places.

There hasn't been an android device I haven't been able to *find* a root/rom for yet, until now.

I see you've done some fine work getting the Amlogic 8hd8g rooted, but only up till the September builds.

Apparently they changed something in the October and on builds.

I understand that you need a rom-dump from one of those devices. I'm sitting here with 1113 serial amlogic that I haven't even had for 5 hours yet. I want to root it and rom it.

Help me help you, yes? Give me a link to a step-by-step to get you your rom-dump and I'll have it up here for you in no time.
