so my tablet is rooted also with the newest stock rom update from you so now I can play all games from google play but now my sd card isn't found? when I hit storage in settings I get unfortunately settings has stopped every time. if I put the sd card in and out it says removing and preparing. is this a bug in the stock rom that needs to be updated by you? Pease Help! Thanks.

Stock Rom files from 9/30/2013

Hey shaun, I have a set of stock files from a nextbook nx008hd8g with a manufactured date of October 2013. and a build date of September 30, 2013 (according to build.prop). If I upload them to Google Drive, can you take a look at them for differences between the current July build and these? I figured this may help you for future stock roms and possible custom roms.

EDIT: Uploading as I type, will take a while though. I'll let you know through PM when it is done.

I have encountered similar issues, however in my case it was not the ROM at fault. In my experience problems related to external SD card mounting are either caused by a bad flash (in which case reflashing should fix) or failing hardware (hopefully the external SD card rather than the tablet).

I would suggest, reformatting the SD card and wiping data and cache. If that doesn't solve the problem, flash the ROM again.

Also have you tried any other SD cards?

Thanks! I got the files and it looks like everything is included. I look forward to comparing them and packaging an updating stock ROM for everyone, but I have been very busy lately with work, school and family, so it may be awhile. Please be patient.

Thanks wiping the data and cache worked! should you always wipe data and cache before a rom install or root? OR after? im pretty new to tablets but ive been building and modding computers for 16 years and i know nothing about coding so thanks for being patient!

It is often considered best practice to wipe data and cache once or even twice before and after a flash install. My ROM package actually wipes both once during the install process, but sometimes once just isn't sufficient on Android devices. The root package does not wipe anything because it only adds the su binary and sets permissions for it. "Dirty" flashes without wiping are convenient, but they are often the cause of many user complaints.

Hi Im having issues flashing the stock rom. My serial build date is 1113. I tried flashing the root zip file. But it resulted in freezing at the at the second screen (woman with headphones) so I then used the stock rom to try and fix this "soft brick" situation, now it freezes at the 3rd bootload (rotating bubbles and finger).

I'm using a FAT formatted 2GB microSD. I tried downloading all your stock roms by dates that are included in your posts, none are working. Please help...

That is the newest serial number I"ve heard of for this model. It is possible that Nextbook changed something in the hardware. I'm kind of surprised they are still manufacturing this model. Wal Mart must be selling a ton of them...

The newest firmware build date I have is 9/30/13. I'll try to get it tested and posted soon.

Thanks for your reply. Although with disappointment and returning the tablet, I will keep checking back to see updates about this cause I may get one in the future. I just couldn't deal with a sitting brick. And the one person that is supporting this thread on YouTube has a terrible explanation/tutorial (from what he calls his video)...

If it's of any relevance, yes they are manufacturing quite a lot. Walmart had 27 in one location and 5 left in the other nearby locations where I am.

After some troubleshooting (file got corrupted in download) I redownloaded it and flashed again. Gave me a "successful, reboot now" message. I hit "reboot now" and it turned off. Haven't been able to turn it back on since. No power on at all, just a black screen. Help me PLEASE!

ShaunMT - first off, thanks much for your development efforts here. I purchased a NX008HD8G earlier this year and rooted with no probs. I purchased another last week and applied the same procedure - froze on bootup (woman with headphones). I attempted to restore the stock rom and it's now completely black. No reset, no color, nada. I then found Jiero's response above and it looks like I did the same thing he did.

It is a nextbook NX008HD8G with serial YFG101309... manufactured Oct 2013 (bought from walmart). Hope this helps and thanks again for your work.

Yes, will not boot at all, no recovery, no screen backlight, nothing whatsoever. Same whing as cchomebrew, with the exception of the S/N, which is YFG1113042017, build date 1113 ("MANUFACTURED NOVEMBER, 2013", the box says). Going to return to Walmart to get a new one. Thank you for your time and help. Attached are photos of the box, if that'll help for other people.
