Turn the tablet into a phone

Thanks M9ProPipo - did you do this yourself as well? have you got your tablet working as a phone? As Mattiesrag suggests, some more info would be useful, I have spent a LOOOOONG time looking up how to do this to no avail, so your shared experience would be great! I have another tablet and a phone both with build.prop files , but I cannot for the life of me work out which lines to add to the Pipo file to bring the phone into life - and I am sure it will as it works with data, so should work with voice as they use the same hardware!

Not myself. Installing to a phone, backing up with titanium backup, copying backup to tablet, restoring with titanium seemed much simpler.

I was trying to install apps, not convince a 3g tablet to be a phone. Perhaps that needs a sim card change? (No idea)

Here's the latest from PIPO regarding my request for an updated SMS rom.

I asked our technicists, they said they are testing it now.

They are not sure when it will be available.

I downloaded a SMS app in my M9 Pro 3G (Not with SMS firmware), and tried to send a short message to my friend.

It works, you can have a try about this.

          Best regards,

          Anna

            sms test

looks like you have nothing to lose in trying this Mattie. I still dare not fit my SIM card into the tablet as it is a China mobile SIM and I suspect the tablet, or Google will complain in some way and stop me using something - I may give it a go over the weekend! Handcent sms looks like an app that may work - but I suspect getting the stock android messenger would give us more confidence! And once sms is working it SHOULD only be a small step to voice like a proper phone! Clearly the hardware is there, I am not sure why it is such a big deal to not have it function as a normal phone (using a bt headset of course!) I am still searching for the elusive build.prop lines to add/change to make the difference! Good luck, Colin.

Is there any reason to use Riley 2.0 over Riley 2.1?

plz notice, that the 2.1 is for the pipo m9 MAX, while the 2.0 is for the m9 PRO...

but i can unfortunately not load the rileyrom, because the flashtool, recognizes the rockchip mass storage device, but when i press the reboot to flash button, it continously says, that there is no device attached.

loading the original firmware via rockchipbatchtool no problem.

reboot to flash mode via rockchipbatchtool and flash via flashtool is also not possible...

                        system is win7 32bit.

where is my mistake?? i don't see it

Re: Pipo M9 Pro RileyROM 2.0

The problem is in the Windows drivers.

                          There is a solution, though.

I'm mobile...so I have no link...but in the Pipo section I have a sticky on how to manually get your tablet into flash mode. Check it out.

without pressing reset, it is not working. and i cannot press reset, because the original foil is still on it, because i am not sure if i switch it against a m7pro or m8hd...

and, my windows shows in devicemanager only rockchip usb-device at the point: volume

no adb, no nothing... is this correct?

Re: Pipo M9 Pro RileyROM 2.0

Not being able to reboot to flash from our flash tool is pretty common...but doing it from the rkbatchtool usually works for me.

I'm not sure you would have much of a problem returning the tablet with a paperclip hole in the plastic cover. Otherwise, I can't think of another magic way to solve your problem.

The M7P, M8HD and M9P ROMs are pretty much interchangeable...except for the kernels...I can boot them all on my M7P using the M7P kernel...and most of the hardware works.
