It takes approx 12 - 15mins to download almanac after which GPS should have a fix. This will not be required again unless u travel very far from or current location with GPS off. To shorten the time, you can enable assisted GPS (A-GPS) to allow or tab use network info from GSM/3G or WiFi to get an approximate fix.A. Izukanne

However I am now terrified of flashing this latest Riley ROM since reading the above post, in case the same thing happens again! However I need to Root so that I can restore my previous data from the Nandroid backup I made - help!
I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was this version: M9pro_EN_NO3G_update_20130906.img
So it may be that there was a bug in that version, so that a Riley ROM based on that update would also exhibit the same behaviour. Hope this helps.

Check Your M9 Model
There are at least 6 versions of the M9 before you start counting the old pcb versions.
Scattered through most of the RileyROM M9 threads are comments from people similar to the two posts above.
You must double check (then check again) on which model you have. Most ROMS (factory and cooked) are specific for a certain model. Once you have confirmed which model you have, then double check the ROM you are going to download (then check again).
With the correct match, and following Randy's instructions, your flashing should go without a hitch.
I know all this because I spent days flashing and re-flashing and pulling my hair out trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. I thought I had ordered and bought a M9Pro. However I checked the model as a last resort, only to find that I actually had a M9 Max.Even Pipo told me that my model was a M9Pro.

Yes, it's that wonderful naming scheme that Pipo came up with, that only serves to confuse people. And that's just the M Series...they have S and U series tablets which are even more confusing to me.
All of my tablets are M series, but I do ROM's for all of them. My advantage is that I've sort of figured it out, but I also get mixed up from time to time when answering questions. I sometimes forget which thread I'm on...but I'm trying to do better.
Between Max, Pro, Ultimate and whatever the S series uses...and now they are just putting HD at the end of things to make it even more complicated.
Take the M8HD, for instance. You would think that it would just be an HD version of the M8 Pro 9.4" tablet, but it turns out to be a 10.1" tablet. So they have 2 10.1" tablets competing against one another with the same basic specs (M9 Pro/M8HD)...so why did they do that?To this day, when I hear M8HD, I still think first of 9.4", not the actual size.
....sorry, I AM ALLOWED ONE RANT A DAY...so I'm good now...what a relief...hahahaha!!!!!!Randy

Using the Correct Drivers
My wife has had a M9 Max for a few months.
I have added the correct drivers to my pc and have upgraded her tablet a couple of times with RileyROMs.
Now I finally have my own M9Pro.
Before I add a RileyROM to my Pro, do I have to change drivers? If so, how?
Do I have to delete the Max drivers?
Cheers

If you want to try 1.7 GHz or VSync patch let me know. So far these have not worked on any Pipo models

EDIT - forgot to mention that I'm still 1.9B and didn't apply the Kernel patch to 2.0. Doubt it matters, but full disclosure and all.

GPS more feedback

Battery drain feedback please
Hi All, Could some of you please start sending back some figures on battery drain whilst tablet is sleeping? I wrote a post way back, #127 but nobody has come back with any more info on their tablets. It should be easy enough just to note the percentage before you leave it and check again when you next pick it up - after a couple or three hours should give us more info - I am losing over 10% overnight which does not seem right. If I leave my Galaxy Note alone for any length of time it barely registers a drop in battery. Hopefully I am an isolated case, but right now I don't know. Thanks!
