    Google Maps on M9 Pro

I have used Google Maps with navigation and voice with absolutely no problems. I have Pipo M9 running RleyROM 2.0. Also on the GPS issue, I didn't have to go through the long process described here. Simply start the GPS test application and put tab under a clear sky. It takes approx 12 - 15mins to download almanac after which GPS should have a fix. This will not be required again unless u travel very far from or current location with GPS off. To shorten the time, you can enable assisted GPS (A-GPS) to allow or tab use network info from GSM/3G or WiFi to get an approximate fix.A. Izukanne

Thanks for your reply. I'm waiting for some other feedbacks on the matter. The crash might be due to software localisation problems. But I can't be sure.

          Bricked?

I just flashed another PIPO M9PRo with this ROM, and well its not booting up, the screen starts the logo doesnt show, Only thing that turns on is the Camera FLASH and it stays turned on, I even tried Flashing the stock update that failed too.

nvm : just checked and it was M9 and not M9 pro

This happened to me with the last official update I flashed from Pipo's website. I had a harware issue and needed to return the tablet for repair. The company in question have a policy of making the buyer pay all shipping costs if they find a non-standard ROM, so on the same day they picked up the parcel I reflashed with the latest Pipo ROM. To my horror, the flash completed, then as it booted up the camera flash came on and there was no way I could either turn it off or shut the tablet down. I had to return it in that state, (probably with the battery totally drained) but fortunately because of the hardware fault they have now replaced it.
However I am now terrified of flashing this latest Riley ROM since reading the above post, in case the same thing happens again! However I need to Root so that I can restore my previous data from the Nandroid backup I made - help!
I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was this version: M9pro_EN_NO3G_update_20130906.img
So it may be that there was a bug in that version, so that a Riley ROM based on that update would also exhibit the same behaviour. Hope this helps.

              Check Your M9 Model

There are at least 6 versions of the M9 before you start counting the old pcb versions.
Scattered through most of the RileyROM M9 threads are comments from people similar to the two posts above.

You must double check (then check again) on which model you have. Most ROMS (factory and cooked) are specific for a certain model. Once you have confirmed which model you have, then double check the ROM you are going to download (then check again ).
With the correct match, and following Randy's instructions, your flashing should go without a hitch.

I know all this because I spent days flashing and re-flashing and pulling my hair out trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. I thought I had ordered and bought a M9Pro. However I checked the model as a last resort, only to find that I actually had a M9 Max. Even Pipo told me that my model was a M9Pro.

Yes, it's that wonderful naming scheme that Pipo came up with, that only serves to confuse people. And that's just the M Series...they have S and U series tablets which are even more confusing to me.

All of my tablets are M series, but I do ROM's for all of them. My advantage is that I've sort of figured it out, but I also get mixed up from time to time when answering questions. I sometimes forget which thread I'm on...but I'm trying to do better.

Between Max, Pro, Ultimate and whatever the S series uses...and now they are just putting HD at the end of things to make it even more complicated.

Take the M8HD, for instance. You would think that it would just be an HD version of the M8 Pro 9.4" tablet, but it turns out to be a 10.1" tablet. So they have 2 10.1" tablets competing against one another with the same basic specs (M9 Pro/M8HD)...so why did they do that? To this day, when I hear M8HD, I still think first of 9.4", not the actual size.

                ....sorry, I AM ALLOWED ONE RANT A DAY...so I'm good now...what a relief...hahahaha!!!!!!

                      Using the Correct Drivers

My wife has had a M9 Max for a few months.
I have added the correct drivers to my pc and have upgraded her tablet a couple of times with RileyROMs.

Now I finally have my own M9Pro.

Before I add a RileyROM to my Pro, do I have to change drivers? If so, how?
Do I have to delete the Max drivers?

                      Cheers

If you want to try 1.7 GHz or VSync patch let me know. So far these have not worked on any Pipo models
Can anyone advise whether this is safe.... Also how to flash it? just CWM?

I downloaded that on 5Nov (when I finally figured out a 2.0 thread existed) and flashed it with the Riley Rom Flash tool, only selecting Kernel. That left everything installed as it was. Noticeable improvement in AnTuTu, with Ram test double. As I recall, there were some instructions early in this thread to just flash Kernel.

EDIT - forgot to mention that I'm still 1.9B and didn't apply the Kernel patch to 2.0. Doubt it matters, but full disclosure and all.

                            Wifi still issue

Everything works fine but WiFi keeps dropping from 65Mbps on join to 1Mbps losing all connection only solution urrently is to restart wifi every 20 mins. My Google Nexus 4 works fine though.

Here you are Pincellone - I have also had no problems with my GPS here in China. I have not gone through any special setup procedure and have the same results as aizukanne - post #181. I did take the tablet up to my roof after reading these posts and sat it on gps test for ten mins - it picked up 8 or 9 satellites and was using up to 4 according to the read out on screen. Google maps got an instant dead accurate pin placed exactly where we are on the map, so no problms whatsoever with this. Maybe you have a broken gps antenna or chip on your tablet? - which google maps are you using? - I seem to have an older one as I also have Navigation which has been deleted from the play store and incorporated into the latest version of Maps - maybe you should go back to an older version just to try?

                                Battery drain feedback please

Hi All, Could some of you please start sending back some figures on battery drain whilst tablet is sleeping? I wrote a post way back, #127 but nobody has come back with any more info on their tablets. It should be easy enough just to note the percentage before you leave it and check again when you next pick it up - after a couple or three hours should give us more info - I am losing over 10% overnight which does not seem right. If I leave my Galaxy Note alone for any length of time it barely registers a drop in battery. Hopefully I am an isolated case, but right now I don't know. Thanks!
