I cannot answer the technical side of your questions. However, I can tell you that you MUST use the cables that came with your tablet.
Pipo tablets require cables where the metal part of the plug is about 2mm longer than normal plugs on similar cables. If you use any other cable, the plug will not make proper contact with the circuit board inside the tablet and your hards drive and/or your computer will not talk to your tablet.

A poster in this Pipo thread modified a standard cable by cutting away about 2mm of plastic from around the plug that goes into the tablet.

    Hope this helps.

      Hi Cracktech!

Understood. How do you reflash and do you mean "reflash your device with this ROM" that I should connect my tab to laptop and ......... Pl explain the step by step procedure.

I don't have great expectations here, i just need to ensure that both ports are working fine (host and usb).

Pl guide me how to ensure the same.

All these ROMS (customs) are already rooted , so dont be smart to ROOT again an already rooted ROM.
Thats the point of using these customs ROm (read the fine print, it said it is already rooted) so all you have to do is to reflash your device with this ROM

You need to download the drivers : I will provide you from my personal depository it is a RKfactory release dated sometime mid 2013 - it come in *.exe format, unzipped it and run it on your PC)then attached the USB cable to the device from PC and wait for a while (upto 5-10mins to install all the drivers)
Check your Win (but Win 8.1 is not supported, even Win 8 is is not advisable to flash but this particular drivers say it supports upto Win8) (found a new device status and installation of device click on icon usually somewhere near the bottom right hand corner until ALL the drivers shows a green tick marks)
Sometimes it says it complete the installed but it is actually getting more drivers to install, then reboot your PC and reattached the device to PC again to see if ALL the drivers are installed before you attempt to flash anything on the device or else it might cause trouble. You should get to thepoint of whenever usb is connected the PC will detect anew storage device (i.e your device internal and external sdcard) It is not only the device shows usb debug is connected that you think you can flash it already. REMEMBER you must reached up to this point (new usb drive detected)

Here is the link to download the RKDriver install : https://www.dropbox.com/s/35zy081v5a...rAssiStant.zip

If you used the PiPo supplied USB cable disregard the advise to cut 2mm from the connector or it it might cause a weak joint on the connector.

Many thanks for the details and the procedure and sharing your personal depository.

I am yet to 'reflash as per your suggestion' but I could see that my 16GB pen drive connected to host (using pipo supplied OTG) is opening and could see all the files in it.

However, my 500GB hard disc (WD) is not opening (again connected thru pipo supplied OTG). Light glows in the HD meaning it is reading but when I tap the USB icon on 'explorer', it says USB device has been unmounted.

I am not able to figure it out why 16gb pen drive is opened but not 500GB hard disc (HD is not externally powered).

As already informed, my external SD card of 16GB is also opening,

Now my question is that should i still do the "reflash"? what will happn if i reflash meaning the advantages of doing it. (Sorry for these silly questions)

          Thanks again!

I would guess that the Pipo's USB socket does not provide the necessary power to run the Hard Drive.

Suitable Micro SD card for M9

I can get a good deal with the following micro SD card :-
              Strontium 32GB Nitro 466x micro SDXC UHS-1.

Does anyone know if this card is compatible with the Pipo?
I have read somewhere that the latest generation of micro Sd cards need the latest generation of software/processors to be able to work (similar to USB 3.0).

I have a funny feeling that this card maybe be this latest generation technology.

I have a 32GB sd card that I bought for my M7 pro, when I upgraded to the M9 pro i switched it over and had no issues as well. It is a G.Skill and I have no problems with it.

There is the link to the exact one I bought. Also I've heard that even 64GB ones work with the tablets so I kinda wish I had gotten one.

I can't say that I have tried a Strontium, but it should function fine. Your USB 3 analogy is probably appropriate here though. Just as you can plug a USB 3 device into a USB 2 port and work, it doesn't work as fast as it could in a USB 2 port. That Strontium lists as

Equipped with a high speed “Class 10” rating, our UHS-1 microSDHC/XC card maximizes the UHS-I technology to deliver a read transfer speed of up to 85MB/s (566X)

but you aren't likely to see 85MB/s or 70MB/s (466x) in the M9Pro. I have a Samsung 32GB that is listed as up to 44MB/s via UHS-1 but I only measured almost 20MB/s read and 15MB/s write (don't recall actual value). I >assumed< the M9Pro wasn't supporting UHS-1. That was also measured on the initial factory ROM. A short test benchmark may yield huge numbers (I got > 400MB/s) but it is only testing buffer speed.

Bottom line is it will depend on how you are using the word "compatible". It should exceed 10MB/s write speed (definition of Class 10).

I just installed A1 SD Bench and get:
16 MB/s read, 13MB/s write on the external Samsung
74MB/s read, 6.8MB/s write on the internal SD

I don't know how to really tell if the PiPo supports UHS on the external - anybody?

If you happen to have a powered USB hub available, connect the HD through the hub to test if it works when not powered by the M9Pro.

                      Wireless under TTLS

I have tested/run the tablet at home and work, home is WPA2-PSK works like a charm, though stops after a while about every 30 mins speed drops to 5mpbs or 1mpbs(no connection) restarting wireless fixes that.

But at work, it uses, 802.1x auth, using TTLS/PAP and half the times it wont even connect.

Also has issues with wifi when Bluetooth is on. I know the problem is with the tablet because my Nexus 4 phone works like a charm.

Question : Does this tablet support external wifi card?

All I was really worried about was the compatibility.
I can buy this card for $25au, which is pretty good for any 32GB micro SD card. I knew that I may not realise the full potential of the card, but so long as it was compatible, it will be worth buying.

                              Battery drain – only 3G

I’ve tested the battery drain on my M9Pro-3G: The active modem is the problem.
When “Modem power” (Wireless / More / Mobile networks) is disabled, the tablet reaches deep sleep whether wifi is turned on or not.
When modem power is enabled, the table never reaches deep sleep, even when mobile “Data enabled” and wifi are both disabled.
Interestingly for reaching deep sleep it is needed to directly disable modem power. Switching to “Aiplane mode” won’t help. All connections will be cut off, but the tablet still doesn’t reach deep sleep.
So by now the only workaround for an acceptable battery life is to always turn off modem power, when 3G isn’t needed.

I suppose this can’t be fixed by Riley and we have to wait for a Pipo-Fix!?

This said, does anybody now a tool or widget with which to directly toggle “modem power”? Couldn’t find one – and changing the setting requires 5 taps…

                                GPS problems

I think i have a solution for the GPS issies on this device.
Go to this link and download the country for you.

Then go to this link en download arctools and install on the device and follow the video in order to istall CWM ,ROOT REQUIRED

You have to CWM installed to flash the file with a USB keyboard(touch don't work) Arctools is also required
You have to place the COUNTRY.zip on your external SD card

Flash the country.zip with CWM and let CWM reboot and reboot again(this was in my case so)
I feel GPS reception is much improved for me(had to buy an usb keyboard for it because the touch scrolling in CWM is not working well, you can try but you wont succeed)

                                Succes to all
