    Need help, big time!

    Hey!
I'm all new to the whole minix thing including android as im a apple user normally.
Just got two Minix X7 (not the mini) and giving one away to my dad.
yesterday i was gonna flash them with this Finless 1.7 but i'm having huge issues getting the drivers to work. I first tried on my pc with windows 8.1 and after some googling understtod that's it's not working at the moments really so i borrowed my girls pc with windows 7 x64 instead and no luck there either so far.
I've tried pretty much everything and i just can't get them to show up in the flashtools even tho it installs the usb driver correctly and so on. In Finless flash tool im getting the "No found RKAndroid rock usb" and in the other flash tool im getting nothing at all. I tried reinstalling the drivers so many times and tried so many versions but i juist can't get it to work, any advice on this would be highly appreciated.
I also wonder which of the OC images that is safe to use, what's the stock speed of the memory on those boxes?

So, after successfully installing the drivers you did the following:
      • Plug in the power cord
      • Connect the X7 to the PC with the OTG USB cable
      • Press the reset button with e.g. a paper clip
      • While pressing down the reset button, push the power button

The stock DDR speed is 1333MHz, so the DDR667 kernels are closest to this.

Yeah, exactly like that if the "reset" is reffered to as the "recovery" which it says on the back of the box.
I can hear it ding and all so it's definately connected, it just wont be found in the flash tools.

          Yeah, reset=recovery.

Does the device manager recognise the device after the 'ding'?

Indeed it does and that's why it's so wierd im getting nothing out of either flash tool.
In windows 8.1 i wasnt able to install the drivers at all but here it tells me driver are installed as they should etc.

And you're definitely using the OTG cable which came with the device?

Hmm, yes. You could try editing the setting.ini file in the main ROM folder and setting:

                  SUPPORTUSB11=1

Yup, there was only one cable that can plug to the OTG jack.

                    Tried several USB ports.

That made the trick! Thanks a million haha!

Looking at the kernels, there's one saying ddr400stock, so is 400 or 667 stock for ram? :/

no idea, but i think it was up or down or pageup/pagedown.

The RAM is rated at 1333MHz but the stock kernel underclocks it.

Btw, as im new to the Finless im just wondering, is it any different in look then the stock version that was installed in looks or do the systems look the same when you browse around? any way to check the version installed?
Also, as im new, any suggestions to what i should install etc to get the most of the box?

The GUI look depends on the launcher you use. I personally prefer Nova Launcher and set that as the default launcher for whichever ROM I'm currently using. That way I have mostly identical GUI experience with every ROM.

You can check the "About Device" section in the main Android settings for the install base.

                                MX Player ?

Please kindly advise is it possible to use MX Player with this firmware with full use of video resizing options (especially CROP mode) and in the same time audio in pass-through mode (on stock 007 resizing is working in HW+ mode only but then pass-trough is dissapiaring). Also what about the Pause/Start button of NEO A2 remote? In 006 these functions are working. Thanks in advance!
