Overclockable RK3188-T
Originally posted by deepspace View PostThere are two versions of CX-919 one with the overclockable ARM3188 processor and one with the ARM3188T that is stuck @ 1.4Ghz
First off, you are inspirational to othersthank you all for that!
Everyone here says that the 3188-T are defective clocked-down models, but :
My CX919 which was bought last year in September turned out to be a -T model. Today I tried to modify my cooling mod to active fan. When I removed the original Alu paper-thin heatsink I had a not so nice surprise: RK3188-T
This is really not such a bad thing, because until now I was using Android JB from Bob Finless, and it was running at 1,6 Ghz with a very small cooling mod.
This radiator is 2x2cm and 1,5cm high, no overheat and very stable run at 1,6Ghz...
Last evening I finished reading through all CX919 related posts, downloaded KK 4.4.2- Finless ROM and
overclocked kernels V3.0 from NODERAT and started testing.
The device works like a charm up to 1,8CPU 798GPU 800RAM with non-T version HD kernels.
Antutu scores: 1,8CPU/Stock GPU/Stock RAM ~ 19300
1,8CPU/798 GPU/Stock RAM = 20508
1,8CPU/798Gpu / 800RAM = 20997- also ran a few 1080p videos and no problems.
1,9CPU/Stock GPU/Stock RAM = overheat and restart with Antutu at 4%.. (Radiator felt hot to my fingers - which is why I think it needs more cooling). But the OS was really really fast and responsive, also boot time 2x faster (it also took 1 or 2 boot-loops before actual boot).
Today I changed a little the cooling:
There may be hope for T models to run high freq, but you will turn it more or less into a TV box...
Will test in the evening with 1,9 GHz kernels.
No harm intended to anyone.
I am just reporting test results.

Overclocked RK3188-T
Hy again,
Did not have much time to test last evening, but the new cooling seems more than enough to keep CPU cool. Actually at first, I forgot to plug in the fan, and after 30 minutes it was only slightly warm to the touch at 1,8/768/800. After plugging in the fan, the temp was same as room temp very quickly.
Results : 1,9 CPU/GPU stock/RAM stock - crashes and reboots randomly
1,9CPU / GPU 768 / RAM800 - OS is more stable and snappy- Antutu now crashes to desktop when starting tests, 1080p videos play nice and smooth (Mxplayer pro - H/W+ decoder).
All the above with Non-T version HD Kernels.
After this, I flashed some SD non-t kernels, but no boot. Also tried flashing Boot720.img, also no boot.
I believe there is a catch: - first flash basic version of Bob Finless, set up accounts and all... after the system settles, then you can flash the modified kernel. This was the way i went the first time.
Actually, it was: Basic Finless ROM - Flashed kernel from D33 V3.0 AP6210 non-T HD - and then flashed kernels from noderat .
I will test more as soon as possible. I want to go with 720p versions this time.
Another thing: Never had flickering problems with my unit. Using a TELEFUNKEN 32" HD-ready TV. Unit is connected to TV with the 20cm HDMI extension cable from the box. Power comes from a 2A supply donated by a defunct 3G router/modem, because the original did not look too good - Chinese built.
Oh, worth mentioning, with 1,9GHz kernels the unit booted when powered through OTG-USB port. I have no idea why, but for me is Ok since the port is not functioning as OTG with KK4.4.2 beta 2 Finless ROM.Last edited by Mihai; 07 April 2014, 10:11.

Working Great with CX-919
I bought a Tronsmart CX-919 about a month ago off Amazon. I haven't taken it apart to see if it's a "T" chip, but I'm just assuming that it is right now. I plan to take it apart this weekend to make sure.
Either way, I'm using Finless KitKat 2.0 ROM with D33's 1080p OC "T" chip kernel and everything is working very smoothly! The main reason I switched was due to poor wifi speeds. I previously had Finless 1.6b and even with my stick less than 4 feet from my router I was still mostly getting half the speed I should have been. Occasionally I would get max speed, but not often. Very weird how the speeds would vary so much. Unfortunately ethernet would not work on Finless 1.6b either :/
Whats working:
- wifi - although I still consistently get about half of my capable speeds
- ethernet - more consistent, but still only giving me 1/2 to 2/3 capable speeds
- very smooth 720 HD playback on all sources (Haven't tried full 1080p yet)
- much smoother XBMC playback...doubt I will even need to use MX player now unless I find 1080p is
choppy
-HBO GO no longer skips video (it did under 1.6b...was weird...video sporadically skipped but audio
always stayed in sync)
What is not working:
- Volume slider only has two settings, full and mute :/
Great ROM Finless and great kernel D33! The only thing that could make things better is the volume slider fix, and somehow making the wifi more capable and stable.

Maybe Finless ROM in Brazil
Hi everyone!!
First, I would like to greet all of you... read a lot of pages, and there are in fact a lot of information just on this thread!
I bought my first toy these days (a tronsmart mk908 II)... and it's working very good to my needs.
Anyway.. i got the same problem of most of you... the flickering and black-out/dropouts...
In fact, i noticed that it only happens on the sony HT, even on 720p! The samsung and LG tvs show everything ok.. but sony doesn't!
Tried just one cable with male-end hdmi and mini-hdmi, 2A power supply and.. nothing!!
(looks there are same problem with other devices, like this: http://www.networkedmediatank.com/sh....php?tid=36659)..
Well.. i have to ask this for any of you.. to me looks the problem is very specific to each device and tvs, but there is some version of the (great) Bob's Finless roms, that really kill this problem ??
Thanks a lot!!
Please forgive my terrible english and let's try to bring your roms to Brazil..!!Last edited by carloscristo; 11 April 2014, 19:44.Tronsmart MK908II RK3188(non-T)
