I also find that passthrough will only work via the optical out and not the HDMI cable with my reciever but my ouya can passthrough the using hdmi just fine. So also try using optical out as well

    Good Luck

    Hello

I did change the settings in android to hdmi passthrough. When I enable the passthrough in the xbmc the sound channels are disable and I am not able to change to 5.1 speakers and I am getting no sound. I checked only with hdmi because I have no optical. So if spmc is working fine for all of you maybe is wasser firmware problem the libmedia.so hack.
Your passthrough is working with wasser firmware? ( i am using wasser latest firmware)

    thanks

Or if anyone is able to upload the latest libmedia.so so I can replace mine. I have read somewhere about statsform file too. Anyone knows something about it?

      thanks

The Samsung ultra slim drives work (http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Portab...dp_ob_title_ce) but you can't watch DRM protected discs. I can see the vob files but they won't play (last I heard Android has no DVD player). The trick to get it working has been posted a few times. Just plug the drive into the OTG (or better yet get a usb hub and plug that into the OTG), then press the button to open the drawer, and then with the drawer open, hold the eject button down for a few seconds until the light turns on. After that you should be able to see the drive under /mnt.

Thanks very much, I'll try it

For this rom, the latest libmedia is the one provided by wasser. To get passthrough on spmc you need to get the right build.prop. look some pages behind to check what you need to change. When you activate the passthrough the speakers output became disabled because you don't need to change it to 5.1, is your receiver that decode the sound and send it to the speakers and if the sound is 5.1 you will get it on 5.1.

Is this build.prop modification still necessary? I read in the latest spmc build the "minix x7 passthrough" check has been disabled.
Also I've only got passthrough working with spdif never hdmi on any ROM or xbmc build?

You are right, koying changed the test, now it's like this:

              if (StringUtils::StartsWithNoCase(CJNIBuild:RDWARE, "rk3" ) ) // Rockchip with "passthrough hack"

Nice work finding the commit, I hate reading those lines of text

To confirm the other points you mention for others to read....
I've just set up the new spmc and tried to get hdmi passthrough. (Personally I knew this wasn't going to work, but if @cyboy reads this he might buy a €2 spdif cable) As normal just static mush from rear speakers. With all possible sound output options tried from android settings menu.
Switch to spdif (2.0 channel output in xbmc) and the magic happens, beautiful surround sound.

Can you test using your MiniX connected using a wired Ethernet connection?
Wired Ethernet works fine,no freezing. I only have the problem when running b Bluetooth and WIFI.

                  Thanks

                    Hello again....
Basically I was using latest wasser firmware which I modified for the previous version of spmc to remove minix check. After I tried the new spmc I didn't change the build.prop to default. So yesterday I did a clean install of wasser firmware again and the new version of spmc. I did enable hdmi passthrough in android settings and in xbmc. Again the audio channels were disable but I played a dts movie from my nas and automatically recognized 5.1 channel. Then I played stereo movie from yify and was playing fine again. So hdmi passthrough is working now no need for spdif. The only issue I had before with other versions of xbmc Gotham was from dts movie back to stereo movie I was getting no sound. I don't know if here is fixed I have to test it first and then I will let you guys know about it. The only issue I got yesterday is when I get back from dts movie to play the stereo movie I got no sound in the menu. But that's not a big deal.

i will test it more when I get back home and I will let you know.

                    Thanks all for the help.

Just a reminder, if you go from JB to KK and then want to go back to JB there are particular steps you need to take to get JB back or you may brick your UT2.

This is whats been holding me back from moving to KK.

I just flashed this onto my 32GB UT2. Works perfect, dont lose any space.

However, it wipes everything so lost my titanium backup, nandroid backups etc. So be careful

You kept your backups on the internal storage? I daresay you deserved this lesson.

Kept on a partition which seems to have been removed by flashing this.

I don't mind, only would have been a problem if the flashing went wrong

How's it doing on the UT2? Everything working, bluetooth, wifi etc.... Wonder how it'll do on a "T" chip. I have one of those too.

                              I don't have a T so can't comment there.

Works good, wifi bt and ethernet all ok. Although I have noticed my ethernet drop off a few times, wondering if this is Rom related. I'll test wifi more thoroughly tonight and report back.

OK thanks! I think a try with both wifi and bluetooth turned on and in use will probably show some bad results but I think I read this is a KK issue and is to be addressed in next KK updates.

If it passes on your UT2 I'll give it a shot on my T chip 1st and see what happens.
