You have to put it in MASK ROM mode by shorting NAND pins. It's because of the loader.
PAIN in the ass but fact. The loader will not downgrade without MASK ROM mode
Bob
I also keep getting download image failed but I'm coming from stock JB rom. How can this happen?

Vpn connection impossible
I've got a problem with this Rom.
I successfully installed it after a few hard days but it's allright, this rom is really greater than the stock rom.
I installed OpenVPN connect but the MK908 crashes when the VPN tries to connect to a server.
With OpenVPN, the MK908 freezes.
Does anyone has a solution please ?
Thanks

Wrong USB Cable
Thanks Bob,
I had been using 1.7a for some time, Went to try to upgrade to 1.8 and when I put the 908 into Flash mode the pc would not recognize it. I tried to re-install the driver. Kept getting an error saying no driver was found. I tried everything for hours.then, after I gave up and hooked it all back up, walked away. Something said,
try a different usb cable. and dang if that work right off the bat
. The other cable is working fine for everything else. but not to flash the 908. Go figure.
Just thought I would share that tidbit in case someone else ran into problems. Oh, and send out a very well deserved THANKS to Bob.
Regards
Tom

I'm new..
Just an FYI, if you intend on getting the MK908 from geekbuying, they're being sold with rk3188t in them and are therefore capped at 1.4GHz. I tried using the overclock kernels but they resulted in a blank screen and what appears to be a bootloop (blue LED flashes on and off).
To be honest, I have mixed feelings about this device. Stock ROM was completely unusable (massive UI lag and hangs) and with the Finless 1.8, less so. 1080p video works but only if you can tolerate UI glitches every so often and wifi/bluetooth performs just as poorly. With Antutu, I get a score of about 14000~ and other minor annoyances such as the lack of "lockscreen" security (even 3rd party apps don't work). Maybe it requires abit more fiddling around but overally, it's an average device.
If anyone has any pointers in tolerating a "crippled" stick, let me know. I'd appreciate it.
Kudos to Finless for making this more useable.

In comparison I have a 1.8 ghz quad core tablet and it stutters a little in hd on the later Netflix versions, so definitely a poorly written app.
As you rightly say out of the box the crippled versions are really bad but with this ROM mine became really good. I always fully shut down/kill background apps when I have finished with them though so I have very little multi tasking going on. But even not doing that doesn't seem to affect it too much.Last edited by dibnah; 08 June 2014, 10:34.
