Stock transformer is good to go and not the matter. Try a different cable on it, the one providev is bad quality.

I am experiencing the same. I'm don't think the tun.ko module is correct/registered correctly. In the older builds like 1.6, when tun.ko was not included, you could use the TUN.ko Installer app to load the module. Since this build includes tun.ko, but it isn't working, the TUN.ko Installer doesn't work either.

Has anyone found a workaround for this? Can I delete or replace the included tun.ko module so that it will either work properly or allow the TUN.ko Installer to do its thing?

Being in Canada, with access to US VPN, this is a showstopper for me. I really hope we can get this working since otherwise this is the perfect ROM for my MK908v1

I don't want to reload an older ROM to get VPN working again. Apart from VPN, this ROM is great! All ideas are welcome.

                    In quick terminal app type:

                    insmod /system/lib/modules/tun.ko

Then click run as root tab(supersu will ask to grant root privilege to terminal and allow that) and post what you get
Double try to be sure, once quick terminal have root privilege

Kmod app from maxter allow to load modules too but kocontrol app is better, give a try you could set modules to load at boot...

Thanks. I tried it last night - insmod failed because the module was already installed. I used ES Explorer to navigate to the /system/lib/modules folder and removed the file. I then ran the TUN.ko installer app and it downloaded a compatible TUN.ko module to /sdcard. I copied this file to /system/lib/modules and restarted. The new TUN.ko module did not start automatically, but did start manually with kocontrol. After checking the box and enabling 'Set on boot', I rebooted, but the module did not load automatically on restart. So it works fine with OpenVPN as long as I load the module manually first. Is there a config file I can edit to have it start up normally just like the one that is included with the firmware?

PS. I will try and upload the working .ko module on the weekend.

i'm really happy for that it work now. hummm now you'll probably need a init.d script that load the module at boot. Finless should have install the init.d support in the rom. look at system/etc/ if init.d folder is there.if so, you can now put in tha folder a .sh file script that you have to make. the script file must at least have rwx-rx-rx (755) permissions to be allow to run and load during the boot....

Autoload module on bootin terminal type:

                        su
                        mount -o remount,rw /system

Create an init file e.g. /system/etc/init.d/tun with this content: insmod /system/lib/modules/tun.ko

                        //Change ownership and permissions

                        chown root:shell /system/etc/init.d/tun
                        chmod 750 /system/etc/init.d/tun
                        mount -o remount,ro /system

Reboot the box and execute lsmod to check if you see the tun module.
if doesn't work rename the tun file in tun.sh and sset permision like above
                        that work now?

                          It should be /system/etc/init.d/100_tun.sh

The number in fron isnt necessary, but makes it easier to have run order sorting.

Do not add the .sh file extension to init.d scripts or they wont work.

                                Bob[/QUOTE]

hi Bob, by the way... it seems mk908v3 and mk908v5 use efuses on the rk3188. default v5 kernel does several things depending on the rk3188 efuse. It takes the leakage level from the efuse for dvfs and tells cpufreq (if rk_tflag==true) to delete any value higher than 1416. latest cnx kitkat firmware also uses a efuse.c file but with references to rk3066 instead of 3188. efuses.c does not exist in the mk908V1 sdk leak. That file is used by dvfs.c and I think that the efuses for the V3 and V5 are different. exact same kernel and system image on the V5 goes up to 1.4ghz and on the V3 it goes to 1.6

can someone rebuild that beast with rk_tflag==false ( tflag is trottle cpu no doubt) and tweak appropriate mv voltage to run a v5 board at 1.6ghz at least?

i'll be an asssiduate tester for that

                                Please Bob
thx for this good 1.8 rom
