I'm still playing around with the quick office problem. I had to do a project last night at work...and didn't have any time last night.

          Quick office etc on KK

          Hey Randy,
I know I keep using my old Note as comparison, but it is the only other Device I have working properly. So, I checked just now to see if quick office works. Yes, it does. It is able to read and write to the external SD card with no problem at all running KitKat. This tells me that OmniRom have cracked the issue of app permissions to write to the SD Card that Google kindly implemented without discussing with their user base. If Omni can do it I am sure you & Bob can work it out!! Good luck!
          Rgds,
          Colin.

Hi, I'm testing Quick Office on my M8HD KitKat, don't have this problems.

What I 've done : copy two files on my SD card from my PC (a xls and docx file)
Then open it with Quick Office and modify them and save with no problem.

On ES explorer, with explorer Root, I see that both /mnt/external_sd and /mnt/internal_sd have RW access.

So maybe, there is a difference in boot.img between M9Pro and M8HD

Thanks for this Steve at least it shows that the issue can be worked around. I just checked and I have RW access for everything on my M9Pro Quickoffice & Kinsoft office both crash and burn, only Office Suite is able to run - and it specifically tells me when I open a file on the SD card that it is ONLY read, not write. Are you able to try Office Suite to see what it does on the M8HD?

With Office Suite, external sd card is also read only can't write anything on it (new or modified files)

With Quick Office, it's OK. (no crash also)

The problem is due to KitKat and it depends on App

Try also Kingsoft Office : it crashes when it uses 'save file'

You are dead right Steve, it's a KitKat issue, but it looks like someone has fixed it for your tablet. Lets hope someone can do the same for mine. Thanks for checking - more than one of us with the same issues that are repeatable are better than one loner!

                    Trouble flashing

I followed the steps.. this is my first flash. everything goes ok, it erases nand and says successful. Then I try to flash the rom and it gets to writing data to flash, then says ERROR: download file failed ERROR: Run failed. I tried repeating steps and same thing happened. Can anyone help?

Sorry for the bad quality picture.. I tried taking screen shot on my computer, and resizing it to the allowable 185kb but it wouldn't work for some reason.. So I took a picture with my phone.

I even tried putting stock pipo rom back on it with batchtool 1.7, won't work. Also failed to download firmware.

                          Erase NAND Properly

This happens to me ever since I went to the first KitKat ROM. You need to erase the NAND properly. Even though it says it is OK it is not. You need to WATCH The counter count memory up to 8 thousand something - on mine it jumped from 6 up to finished without counting and then I got the same problem as you. Keep hitting the erase button until it counts up properly. Also I tried flashing the entire Pipo rom (any is OK) back with the other flash tool and then try Riley again sometimes works. It has been a nightmare for me for two months, but keep trying and you will get there.

oops, did not see our last post about trying Pipo rom already!! Are you running the flash tools as an administrator??

Did you have the loader checked each time? The loader is crucial. Also a good USB connection is crucial.

Yes loader was checked, also I tried different usb ports and I watched it erase nand and count regularly by 200 intervals to 81xx. Guess I'll keep trying

Ok.. sometimes it counts by 200's up to 400.. is this normal or is it supposed to count slower?
