Yeah, exactly the same for me. Frustrating, I have a Nexus 5 running ART, and I like to be on the bleeding edge when it comes to using features, but my M9 running kitkat and dalvik is fine for what I use it for. In fact I'm still on 2.6 and dalvik. Haven't got round to updating yet...

I have now the 2.7.1 on ART. This time it worked great. With a reboot, only 2 apps are keep getting rebuild. All others working perfect. So it looks like with the 2.7.* version it is ok.

          Interesting,

apparently I cannot get ART working on 2.7.1.
After I switch runtime to ART I have a reboot but then ... everything is just like before and in development settings the runtime selected is still Dalvik.
          Is there any secret?

The National TV archive in Finland

The National TV archive is running much too slow in KitKat! When a woman is speaking I hear a man with very low sound. In Commercial Chanels the voice is ok. Well one of them use Silverlight which isn't very nice on Android!

Is it so that the voice in KitKat (tried with both 2.6 and 2.7.2) cannot be corrected? In latest Jellybean, the 2.7, everyhing is fine!

Could it be something with the 25 vs 30 fps in TV?

Do you use Xposed? Xposed is not compatible with ART and blocks the system from implementing it, it stays on dalvik

                Reading docs

OK Guys - some serious feedback about reading docs. On 2.7.2 running art my kingsoft office app crashes when opening docs. I switched back to Dalvic and have the same problem. I do not remember having this problem on previous JB ROMs. The screen jitters for a while and then the program (sorry, app) stops. This does NOT happen when opening the same document using the same app on my Note (running 4.4.2) I have read that others are having problems with Google's quick office attempting to read docs as well, but I can't remember if that is on this Pipo, or just on KitKat in general.
On the art subject, I am not sure why people are getting apps recopiling a secod time after a reboot, but why reboot? I ran for two days without a problem (on one charge!!) neeing a reebot - this ROM seems stable as a rock (thanks RR!) I am now going back to ART for more checks - will check quick office first!
                Rgds, Colin
Update - Just loaded up quick office which appeared OK at first, but then it keeps crashing when trying to open docs spreadsheets and presentations, so BOTH mainstream office apps don't work - aarrgghh is there any one else out there trying to read/edit docs on this tablet having the same problem?

                    Quick office

Tested Quick office here, and as soon as I try to open the map it stops working. So not working under KK 4.4?

Tested Kingsoft office and that works fine, altough it is a bit slow sometimes when I want to open a file.

                      Yes!

that must be the issue. Thanks

I have problems with MX Player, simply does not work when trying to playback any video file with HW+ decoding mode, I see only a black screen and an error message(unsupported mode).
If I selected SW decoding, is way too much heat and extreme battery drain.
With HW decoding mode, sound volume is very low on video with DTS.
Does anyone know any effective solution?
Custom codec was also installed, but I see no change.
When Jelly Bean was installed, I had no problem on this.

Sudden realisation: SD Card no write access in KK

OK all, I have been trawling the web for a while and you all probably know this already - but I suspect the main reason for my 'office' apps failing is that in Android KK one can no longer write (ie save) files that have not been created by the app you are using - this basically turns all KK tablets into coffee mats as far as I am concerned. Randy, is it possible for you to change permissions in your ROM to allow read/write/delete for all apps as it is in JB? This is a Google issue and one that will certainly stop me from buying the massive note pro12.2 any time soon! What a stupid thing to do Google!! I just opened 'Office suite' which seems to be the only app working for me on KK. Went to SD card and it told me it only had read access to my files - I can therefore not use it as my files are all on the SD card (of course!) HOW STUPID can you get!!
                          Cheers all,
                          Colin.
