    USB DAC audio

    Hi,

Could someone confirm that Hi-Res music file (24bit - 96 khz) play correctly on their USB audio DAC. Most post about this topics mention that it play but according to the display on the DAC, the sound 96/24 original file is downsample in the MInix to 44,1 kHz/16 bit. Same as spidf and HDMI, even set to Passthrough. I have tried several compatible Hi-Res audio player (Deadbeef, PowerAmp, XBMC...) with different SPIDF and HDMI setup. I am looking at the DAC option now.

    Thanks

I don't own any USB DAC but I read some users have
good results on the X7 with them (although proof of high-res audio playback
      is not given) :

Also, but you already read it,

I am a bit disappointed as I am unable to get high-res audio through HDMI with the X7...

Probably, we could collect all of the audiophile sound experiences and issues with the X7 in a new, dedicated thread...

That would be a very good idea...

I have read all those tread. Most DAC dont have a display, but those that do always says 16/44.1 with 24/96 music file.

I can check for you, do you have a sample file that you want me to play ?

I have a DAC and as far as I know I can play anything - I've tried some high quality SuperCD WAV files with 24bit - 96 khz. However I am not sure if it downsamples it.

Here a web site where you can download free hi res music file. I have mainly test Flac 24/96 stereo file, as well as multichannel.

http://www.2l.no/hires/index.html Follow the direction for the username and password for the download.

I am quite shure that it will play on a USB DAC, but without a display (on the DAC) its impossible to tell if it is or not downsamples.

              Thanks for trying

Note : I have also a USB DAC but without a display. My DAC have also a spidf (coax) input. This is a long shot but may be the digital music is extract from the USB board and send to the spidf circuit. IF I am very lucky, then I would get a USB to coax conversion. I can use the spidf as an output, plug it to my receiver and verify if I get 24/96 transmission. Will try later....

I had a look at wassers KitKat and it seems that the dark camera issue is fixed there. Any chance of copying the fix over to this rom?

                  Miracast and Airpin Pro ?

                  Dear Nitroteam,

is the any chance you will make available the Wi-fi Display app in QS3.1 or in the next version ?

Also, it is really unfortunate we cannot use Airpin Pro because of the check on the system name in the build.prop file. OK, we can change it (BTW, the check is only when the app is installed or each time it runs ?), but is there any other final solution ?

                  Thanks in advance.

Hi, I took the USB DAC I have and intercept the digital signal to feed my Onkyo receiver thought the Coax (spidf) input. Yes , it work. The program USB audio player (trial version) bypass all the audio section and take control. In the Minix sound preference menu, no audio output is selected. This is normal when the program take control.

I have manage to play 2 channel 24 bit/96 kHz stereo file and my receiver acknowledge that the frequency is 96 kHz. My receiver dont say if its a 16 or 24 bit file. My setup did not work with a 192 kHz file, but the audio DAC was playing the file through the analog output only Their a limit of 24 /96 on s/pidf, so its not surprising. USB audio player program indicate «DAC: 192 000». I assume that it mean that it transmit at this frequency.

HDMI can support up to 8 raw channel at 24/192 ( if implemented by Minix). It would be great if we can make this work. Then I would not need a USB DAC and I could play multichannel audio file.

Is it possible to take the same approach as the «USB audio player» and bypass all the Minix audio section to avoid file downsampling ?

                    Regards,

I don't have a XP or Win7 PC, so I guess the PC method is out for me. So can I use Quickflasher to install the complete package? Without need of any PC?

I downloaded "qs3.1-x7-en.rar" and it contains "update.img", and lots of other stuff, can I include that with the kernel zip for Quickflasher? I am not sure how to begin.

I am currently running an old Finless rom, 1.6 I think. But want to upgrade to KitKat. I think I understand how to use Quickflasher, but I am not sure what files I need to put in the Quickflasher folder.

The slow frames is a big pain here also! - dont know if thats the ROM, or a update Netflix made a little ago - same problem on Micrale 4.4.2

Edit: Just read a reply asking me to try 1708 cpu instead of 1608, will do that today and report back!

UPDATE: AV Sync is correct via SPDIF(Optical), seems to be only off on HDMI watching XMBC and Netflix. On XBMC you can adjust the audio timing to compensate though..

AI also have the "slow" frames on Netflix but I have noticed this in JB ROM's are well (QS2.0, Finless 1.8, etc)
I've the same problem, Netflix A/V is out of sync (HDMI), any ideas how solve it ?, as it was said before, with XBMC its really easy to solve it but on the Netflix (no issues with Hulu) app its impossible (no audio offset option).

This has been covered... if you are interested in details... read the thread... if not...

No you can't, for the reasons they've explained a number of times already

The thread is 25 pages long at this point today... that is quite a lot of reading. While I'd truly like to read all of that, it really isn't likely that enough time exists.

How about this, I installed the Finless rom with the device drivers that he provided. He included a Vista driver in his bundle (which is the OS I am using). Can I just install the .img files from your package with the software provided by Finless to install his?? If so, that would be ideal.

Alternatively, is there any other way to install Nitro using Vista? If not, I can go on to something else.

The drivers work in Vista also... should have been written XP-Win7 ...

But the forum search also covers your other complaint about the length ... If you are really new to this stuff... reading is the only way you are going to learn...

Okay, but there are different drivers for XP and Win7 (the qs package has both), which should I use with Vista.

I did a search on this thread for "Vista" and could only find our messages. The other messages you refer to must be in another thread... or different topic.

Back to my issue... since I have the driver that Finless uses installed, must I get rid of it? Or can your software use the RK dirver that he is using? In which case, this becomes a non-issue.
