[ROM] OpenELEC for Amlogic-based TV boxes (M8, MXQ, TV110, MX2/G18)

    Shameless plug here.
But I've written an addon for OpenELEC.
It allows users to easily set up Privateinternetaccess.com on Openelec.
If interested I can post a link.
    Plug end.

Anyone else had an issue where certain streams totally kill the internet connection to other devices? Using Yifi HD add-on, wired connection to ADSL router. Original M8, Gotham ROM. It's as though it just disables my WiFi.

          GEEKBUYING
Do not buy from them. i got a bulk order from them. They said it was suppose to be shipped in 3 days but was shipped out in a month. They gave all kinds of run around then finally got it. They turn on but when u go into recovery mode it will crash then just stay on a red light. PayPal will refund for the purchase but it cost over $379 to ship back but i payed $450 for everything. I'm still working something out with PayPal right now GEEKBUYING is a scam.

Sorry for being a nag! I had no idea they could not be reproduced as no one said as such.

Anyway. I have now done a fresh install of the latest Helix build (rather than an upgrade) and the freezing menu issue seems to be gone. Fingers crossed my other issues will also be solved. In the meantime I have uprated my power supplies to 3A ones, and changed my shares from SMB to NFS to try and improve my chance of a fully bug free system.

Sounds like a bad transistor to me, I had an MX2 just do the red light, couldn't recover anything though it was hard bricked, ended up being a blown transistor. So I bypassed it when I get home I'll see if I have the picture...

@codesnake, will the openelec group ever consider letting you join there official update servers? Is there anything the community here can do to help with that..

No sweat, it's only an opinion ;-)
Glad you got things sorted, you shouldn't have these issues once properly installed..!

Lets hope you van enjoy this build, as it's the best i have come across :-)

Codesnake, is there any way to disable HDMI-CEC in your port? It switches off my box but won't switch it on again so I'd rather it did nothing at all.

Currently you can't disable it. But why you cannot turn on the box using it's own remote?

I'm using a harmony smart control rather than its own remote so one button press should switch everything (tv box, tv, home cinema, sky satellite box) to correct inputs or switch off. It was all working perfectly with my old MX Linux box which didn't do anything with CEC. I guess I'll need to find a workaround if it can't be disabled.
