many thanks its working a treat. i have ordered a dvb s2 tuner and im going to hook it up to my existing satellite dish, is it possible to get sky channels through the tuner if i do some research on the internet or will it just pull in freesat channels.

Yes, it's possible. But you have to run an oscam server (same device or another) with a card reader. Then you can connect to your oscam server from your tvheadend backend if you're using this for your dvb-s2 tuner. I don't know if other backends can also connect to oscam.

          Hi again
sorry to pick your brain again, i have been to the services and installed the tvheadend, and also enabled the tvheadend client in the pvr section, when i log into my ip address to configure the tvheadend there are no tuners showing up. i tried the tuner in windows and the green power light came on when i installed the driver, but its not coming on when i hook it up to the box, will the driver be missing from openelec. how can i get the driver and also inject it to my box to power on the DVBSky S960 tuner
          Thanks again

            hi

please ignore the last post as i now know that the dvbsky s960 tuner drivers are not in the 3.10 kernel.

the source code to build the driver for the kernel is on the website, would someone be willing to help me get it on to my M8 box please.

            Thanks

Try it and let us know. I don't have that box to try it on.

In releases from amlinux.ru/image there should be drivers included for S960 - at least in S82 versions (which I used).
I have same tuner and got it working with tvheadend (and pay-tv) but channels didn't played 100% stutter free and navigition through kodi/EPG/etc. caused big stuttering.

Last time I tried was with OE 5.0.3. Maybe it's better with newer versions. You could try and tell me if it's better now.

                    Hi al8782 and MikeD

i have the M8 S802 K200 box, would the M8S S812 work on this box, also MikeD i see from your link they do the 5.0.8 for the M8 but there is no model number on it would this be the one for my box.

                    Thanks

Yeah, I think M8 version should work with your box. You could also try S82 version if M8 doesn't work.

                          First of all,
I wanna thanks for this OE charm, and all the work and anonymous patient from people on this.

QQuestion: Is there any Codesnake OE ROM for M8 with Kodi Isengard, to give a try?

FYI: Codesnake 5.0.3 OE works good for me in my Gbox-Q. Could be some issues like not real 4 Cores working but compare with the lightly efficient it is not to worry about.
                          Best Regards to you all.

Would love to see a new version as well, even when 5.0.3 is close to perfect already. Just the minor issues fixed would be enough: AAC audio sometimes not playing, and the four cores (mostly not needed, but it does make a difference for h265 playback with software decoding)

Yes, i agree 5.0.3 is prettyy awesome as it is.
Still, i am hoping that Codesnake will find the time to release at least 14.2 (in which PVR bugs are solved) or even better, a version with Isengard (beta2 just got officially released, yay!).

It has been a while, though. Hope is slowly leaving me for the MX2 or M8 devices and these custom OpenELEC builds, might have to turn to an officially supported box like the Cubox....
