The first thing that I noticed was that there was an improvement in colour reproduction on the videos that I played.

It's a little zippier in operation.

Tested the Nvidia shield test SPMC and all works very well indeed.

There is slight stuttering when playing 1080p video in Youtube during panning sequences but this was no different to the norm for me.

A 4k video that normally had a pronounced amount of stutter part way through playback is smoother, although not perfect.

I noticed that when the USB connection is checked, it does not stay on after a reboot.

Powering off only reboots but I'm guessing that this will be because I need dedicated kernel/resource files for the R28.

On 2.0.9a BBC iPlayer would work with ethernet connection, but not in this.

At the top right hand corner of the home screen, where you have the time/wifi indicator, there is also an entry that shows 2600 degrees C, which I'm sure can't be the temperature of the CPU, so not sure what this indicates.

Overall, very impressed and nice to see the included apps for a get going out of vox experience.

For BBC IPlayer, you can enable 'fake wifi connection'.
It tricks Android into thinking your ethernet connection is a wifi connection.
Enable the module in Xposed Framework.

Power off will work with a kernel/resource after 10 April 15 since there are new emmc drivers and older kernels won't boot properly. Can try with only resource.img also but not sure it it will work.

Yes, that is the CPU Temperature.
To see the correct temperature, open CPU Temp module app or in Xposed Framework and change Temperature file to /input/temp0 then it will show the correct temperature.

      Thanks.

Yes the fakewifi module does now work and I'm now showing a more realistic temperature, which never gets above a respectable 68C.

I did try another resource image and you are correct, it would not boot.

Can you give a link to only your resource.img(latest one) by PM then I can make it work with the ROM?

I will do that, thank you.

having played more with this for the day now, I am liking it more and more and even if powering off does have to be done manually, it's worth the minor issue for the overall experience of the great ROM.

            i'm following this, looks promising.

now running hisounds 1.04 (chameleon), works very well except power button

I want to try this rom when it fully works on r28, including power button that turns red when entering sleep.

Let me know when i can try this thanks!

Out of curiosity, I flashed the OC kernel and resource images from the OHC PDA site and power off now works.

mo123 now running your firmware on my r28. Great work, so far very good . I like it very much except the boot animation/music, but hey i can live with that.

I'd like to use SPMC as a launcher, is this possible with spmc 15 beta?
Now running spmc 14.2 with launcher.

Your SPMC tweak, what files/settings does it modify? Not advanced xml right? And does the tweak work with spmc 14.2?

Still need a power button fix though.

                  Thanks!

SPMC Tweak - It creates the advancedsettings.xml file with cache to RAM - 400-600MB I think.
It should work with SPMC 14.2 also.
If you have a more advanced advancedsettings.xml file, you can link it and I'll make my app work with it.
The tweak also installs custom codec for MXPlayer.

Shame about that but for me it was the ability to power off correctly that was most important.

The OC kernel also aids in delivery even smoother video playback overall.

3D Acceleration hasn't been released by ARM, they would have done it in February.
As the manufacturer of the GPU not even they know exactly what to do and they put the blame on Rockchip. They say a 3.14 kernel is needed.
Another user mac_L1 got support from other RK3288 companies and their engineers help him to finalize VPU acceleration in Lubuntu for Kodi and other video playback apps.

Rockchip is working on improving Lollipop firmware that will fix a lot of issues and will also release Windows 10 for RK3288 devices.
Lollipop will fix a lot of issues with passthrough that people are experiencing and might provide ARM Trustzone support to run Netflix etc. in 1080p.
So even if GPU acceleration is not released for Linux, you will still have GPU acceleration in Windows 10.
mo123 ROM looks great. Can't wait to test it. Looks like I missed the debut. Been busy lately. Can't wait to try this!

About quote above, I've been saying all along that the reason why Linux 3d, chromium, and lollipop were falling behind was because of problems between Rockchip kernel version and ARM drivers. I'm just glad to hear it confirmed.

What have you been hearing about kernel versions for lollipop? I just bought a pipo M9S and so I've been following the lollipop pre-release for P9 and P1 on arctablet. A comment which was made about trying to pull forward a working driver for the power control from 3.10 prompted me to ask about the kernel version and if VPU/GPU were fully functional. I didn't get a response though.

Another comment in one of those threads also made it sound like arctablet and pipo were using 2 separate kernel builds for lollipop.

Either way I would love to see fully functional KVM virtual machines happen but it seems like the work I've seen in that area on Google source is in the 4.0 series kernel.

Can you tell which it's likely to be? Of course there is speculation here and on the firefly forums. Lol, maybe everybody knows already but me because I've been off the forums for awhile. Will the lollipop kernel be compiled with full support for the A17 chip in the compiler, or does it still masquerade as an A15 for compatibility? Maybe the new kernels already support this?

Would that even make a difference in actual performance?

I'm so full of questions, but I feel like your our best source for some answers.

Cheers and thanks for the new ROM!

Hello mo123, Thanks a heap for giving me the opportunity to preview Lollipop on my UT3. I think I'm going to like Lollipop. Your ROM is very snappy. Browsing is lightning fast. Not that it matters, as this ROM is for the HPH, but of the three USB ports on the UT3, only one works(closest to LAN). I only mention it, thinking gen 1 HPH boxes might also be affected. Also was unable to get RKRemote, LeHome or Fireasy to connect. But of course, that is trivial at this stage.
Anyway, thanks again. Your reputation is well-deserved.

                              To the Moderators:
Oops, as mo123 pointed out, I posted this in the wrong thread. If you're feeling charitable, you could save me some embarrassment by moving this to the correct thread. Thanks!

For Lollipop ROM which is actually in other thread:

Remote apps will be included in next ROM.
It's a bit of work to add it and then to test if it still works on Lollipop.

                                Tested USB
On 32GB model (B) or UT3(S) 3 of the 4 USB ports work.
It is just a simple driver issue that needs to be changed.
