wifi is purely based on positioning. The Antenna is printed on the circuit board. With the device standing on its side I get constant 60+ Mbit oppised to less than 15 when its standing flat.

Is it easy to return the box to Gearbest for a refund? I have the constant red light and have tried flashing on 2 different machines, Windows 7 and Windows 10 with Phoenix. Both gave me "Burn firmware failed" error.

I was a bit frustrated with the wifi performance so I went inside the unit, disconnected the printed WIFI antenna, installed a u.fl connector and now have an external rp-sma antenna. Just needed to drill a hole in the case to pass the cable through. Works great. But wifi is still a bit dodgy when trying to use Kodi to stream video from my NAS so I use ethernet for that. I use the wifi mostly for miracast.

I am new here. Just did a firmware update on my BeeLink X2, it is looking good. Couple questions: 1) how to do backup using PhoenixSuit? 2) is it possible to update to the latest version of Kodi? 3) where can I download the current version of Kodi Helix 14.2 just in case if I have to go back? 4) Can I do a restore then it will be back to version 14.2 if I know how to do a backup first? Thanks.

Can input on a couple of things. Yes you can update to newer Kodi, I tried it but it didn't seem to work very well. Seems that the X2 is tailored for 14.2. You can go back to 14.2 Helix after trying the newer Kodi with the onboard system restore. Hope that helps.

I did install Kodi V15.2, but it did hang up when installing from zip couple of times. When I took the update 4.4.2 KOT 49H 20151105 test-keys, it reloaded Kodi V14.2. So I left it alone.
When using PhoenixSuit, I never able to see it connects to X2 except doing firmware upgrade.
Can someone explain why I am getting too big of image on one TV but not another, they both are 1080P TV? Also I am using Kodi with Raspberry Pi on the same 2 TVs, the image on both TV look the same. Kodi with Raspberry Pi is setup for 1080P display too.

Hi, is it possible to install a proxy on this device? I have tried tunnelbear and hotspot shield, but keep getting the message ""Your image does not support the VPNService API" Any way around this ?

I have a tiny issue with this box: I can't insert the SD Card! I pushed it as deep as I could, as hard as I could, but it would always come out (sounds like a porn movie!)

Is there a way to solve the problem without breaking the device?

I want to buy this device but curious about h265 capability. Can it really play h265 encoded 1080p content ? I know 10bit is not possible but normal h265 1080p would be great actually. And do we need to use kodi to play these 4k or h265 files or can we use mx player too ?

When box is on, there is no problem control the box with the mouse. I can turn off the box with air mouse remote. But when I turn off the box, I cannot turn it on with air mouse controller, I have to use an original remote for that. Anyone can help how can I turn on my X2 with this air mouse remote ? Thanks a lot guys !!!

Mouse is USB. Can you turn it on with any other USB device? probably not. Do any of the modded firmwares allow USB power on?
I find it takes so long to boot up, I just leave it on and turn the TV off. Or you can press the button on top.
It uses an extra 2W in idle vs standby, (0.5A, vs 0.1A ) so not terrible.

Yes, works well in MX player. Of course, it is rendered in 720p and then upscaled to 1080p.

I find playback in Kodi (stock firmware) quite jerky on this device. It is very noticable in slow-pans such as demo clips, or the GoT opening sequence.
But the TVMC version of Kodi works fine.
Should I delete the version of Kodi that came with the X2 and download a vanilla version from the Play Store?

On Android?? Possible, but not on the X2. You'll need Lollipop at least.
