X92 TV Box S912, Android 6, 3/16GB, Dual WiFi, Gig Lan
Thanks for the reply. I actually bought 2 of these boxes online and both have the same exact problems. The wifi connected to my home network but it's extremely intermittent, it connects and disconnects every 2-3 seconds. I tried factory resetting them but it made no difference. My last attempt is to do the firmware update.
I'm not even sure which img file to use, in the update folder, there's several img files (boot/bootloader/dtb/logo/recovery).
I opened the box and I do see the reset button, I think the pin I used wasn't thin or long enough to reach it, so I reset it while the box was open and I can now get in to recovery mode. But, when I have the USB Burning Tool opened, it will show connect success at bootup, but when it enters recovery mode, it disconnects. With a few attempts though, while hitting the reset button, the box would sometimes just freeze on the x92 splash screen, and it shows connect success in the usb burning tool. Do I flash the box at this stage where the x92 splash screen is frozen?
Sorry noob here, first time doing all this, don't want to mess it up even more. My last solution to get this going is to use the ethernet and something like the tp-link TL-wr802n as someone else in the thread suggested, but for a bit more I could just toss these out and buy new boxes.
Thanks
Your picture is a bit dark it's hard to see if you have the antenna properly connected. If the antenna is not properly connected, then you have intermittent wifi problem. Check carefully about the connection, maybe there is a cable broken for the wifi antenna.
Somebody mentioned that the antenna can be easily broken. So I dare not even twist/turn it !
Also I think you use the USB Burning tool incorrectly. The Burning tool is to be used when the power is removed, and also HDMI cable removed.
That's you disconnect everything and bring the box to your PC. No need to power, no need HDMI connection to TV. You only watch the PC screen.

Here's another pic. The antenna is connected fine, solder joint is good.
I had the power removed and my computer monitor is hdmi so I wanted to see what's going on, which is why I connected it.
I'm not sure if I want to risk bricking it completely or buying an eth-wifi adapter! Do you know which img file to use? Or point me to a recommended firmware? Thanks

I just bought the X92 2GB+16GB and I wonder if this works thru the update app built in the box thru zip file or is this only for the 3gb version? If not, what is the latest stock rom for the 2gb+16gb version? I'm a complete noob and I just want the latest stock rom and I prefer easiest way to update. Thank you!

This firmware is only for 3GB_X92.
If you flash, you will brick box.
Hehe....it's easy to unbrick.....
Btw,
this is for X92 2GB + 16GB / 3GB + 16GB / 3GB + 32GB TV Box
It's a bit strange that the firmware can support both 2GB and 3GB Ram. Maybe it's an error made by some human. It does not care about your storage size, 16GB or 32GB does not matter. But normally 2GB and 3GB rom cannot mix.
