Thanks again, will try it later, but to avoid confusion and i don't fancy adding another bricked box to the stack, with display we are talking about the LCD display at the front of the box.

Tx8 Max doesn't have a display, that's why i asked, and it is also DDR4.

      Is your X92 DDR3 or DDR4?

And again if you didn't see my edit, the display on the front doesn't work with this flash. Everything else that I have tested works as expected.

But once are you comfortable with the quality of the changes, you can install it into your internal flash.

How do i proceed to install it in the internal flash?

I understand you are running the Vasily rom, and this boot image is intended for that rom.

Does the Vasily rom work well, because finding a firmware without major issues for this device seems to be a BIG task.

The instruction is in the Readme.en.txt of the download.

It's an 'upgrade' firmware, and thus pretty much dependent on where you are currently in. If you are currently not in the same path as the new ROM, then installation will likely fail. You need to tweak the TWRP or the existing installed recovery to convince it to be installable. Or you modify the version checking script (updater-script) in the zip image.

Ok Here is my report, and i need some help obviously.

I flashed the Vasily rom, and I love it, as it is the first rom that work perfectly.

Installed some apps from usb drive. All works perfect

Copied the 3 files as instructed in the tutorial to a Sandisk SD card, and boot up. ( reset button not needed)

Boots up with working display. Great.

But now my usb slots are not recognized any more, and the Sandisk SD card is seen as a Samsung SD card.

I reboot again without the SD Card and now my USB slots are recognized again, and the SD card is recognized as Sandisk.

Repeat both options a few times, with always the same result.

So finally boot up without SD card, as i want to flash the kernel, insert SD card with TWRP image ( I renamed twrp.img to recovery.img and add a dud update.zip)

Open the update&backup app and select the dud update.zip, and click update.

I expect it to boot in twrp recovery, but instead it boots normal with display enabled.

I also try to boot up in twrp recovery by inserting sd card and hold reset button, but that also result in normal boot up with display enabled.

So here my questions, in the hope you can help.

                    - How do I get in that twrp terminal?

                    - Since my usb slots are not recognized when booting up with the boot sd, will they also not be recognized when I flash the boot internal, because I assume that process can not be turned back once done?

                    - How do I get rid of that fugly static boot screen?

                    Thanks in a advance

                      Ok noted your observations.Â*

I think the usb storage is not recognised properly if it is plugged in since boot.Â*

Maybe you can try to have the usb storage unplugged and plugged in only after you completely booted ?

Maybe that's the reason why you say the Rikomagic Rom can't recognise the usb storage ? ( The boot image kernel is taken from Rikomagic ROM ).

We need to have this completely fixed first before moving on to installing it into the internal flash.

Booting with all usb slots empty doesn't make a difference.

The strange thing is that I can have the boot kernel on a usb drive instead of a sd card, and the usb drive will be recognized during boot and have working display, but after boot no usb drive recognized.

Any way, I will move away from the Vasily firmware, since it is based on the old Vorke Z6 firmware, which mean after about 20 boots you will get the distorted boot logo screen, which was a problem for all Vorke boxes until they updated the firmware end of last year.

I started to get the distorted static screen already.

                            Two choices.

You can either unzip the image and remove the first line of the file updater-script (the code which performs version checking ) or you change a modified TWRP which identifies itself as q201.

The TWRP in the my boot image does that. You can boot it up by renaming TWRP.img as kernel.img according to the instruction in the README.en.txt.

                              Thanks for your continuous advice.

I start from the Vasily rom obviously, and use update&backup app to perform the update, using stock recovery.

As I said earlier, I'm unable to boot in TWRP, or do something wrong.
