Thank you for your quick reply.

Is the process for flashing rom is same as updating firmware through sdcard?

Also, I would appreciate if you have link to ugoos rom and any detailed instructions to flash it.

You can test my mod from Ugoos port - its for X92 3GB model ONLY!

      - a lot of unuseful (for me) system apps removed (included ugly bootvideo),
      - Nova Launcher (only),
      - Greenify (hibernate apks),
      - root + SuperSU
      - SD Maid (cleaner),
      - Titanium Backup (backup apks),
      - Xtreme Booster (RAM optimiser),
      - ES (file explorer),
      - working YouTube (credits for SADME),
      - hacked java - possible to install older version of apks,
      - Xposed Framework + RootCloak (hide root) + AdBlocker Reborn (anti ad) + XInternalSD (data/obb on extrenal storage).
      - NullKeyboard (attention: no screen keyboard in this mod! / some crashes in Options/Language but You do it only once).
Plug any USB keyboard and mouse or use RemoteIME on Smartphone and download any from PlayStore if You need.
      - busybox, init.d, bla bla bla.... I dont remember... Oh Yeah, fixed Enter in real keyboard.

After first launch config Greenify from Xposed because it has probs with asking for root rights. Its not the mod problem but apks itself.
You also get some errors (Xposed at system launch, YT at it first launch). Dont bother.
Without any configs (Greenify, settings) the rom can be little slow at beginning (especially power menu).

      How to install:
      - install Rashr from PlayStore and flash TWRP recovery if You dont have already ( http://www96.zippyshare.com/v/xyy70iZb/file.html ),
      - unpack files to SDCard or flash drive with TWRP structure eg: TWRP/BACKUPS/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/X92_2017_04_17/files
where xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is serial of Your box. You can easly check serial in SPMC/Kodi in Settings/Architecture.
      - boot to TWRP and wipe/advanced wipe: davlik/ART. system, data, cache,
      - go to restore, choose staorage and click backup folder,
      - on the end reboot and thats all.

      Unpack 1st part with 7-Zip.

      Code:

        Thank you Pavlik,

I will try this out. I want less crap and more free space, and seems that's what your rom managed to do. Plus, instructions to reatore the firmware seems pretty easy too.

However, I would like to know what are the other two links, 2 and 3, for? I guess link 2 is few days older firmware than your most recent one, but what is link 3 about?

Also, does i8 wireless keyboard will work with this rom?

Hopefully, I am not bothering too much, just being careful.

Download su from playstore. Bins in system partition should stay intact but if not download zip (and install it from recovery) from http://www.supersu.com/download

                  Hello everybody!

Anybody has any info about where the front panel LED indicator is connected to?
I found the old VFD driver used in the old S812 and S805-based boxes, but it seems the GPIO pins used with those old 32-bit processors has changed in transition to the 64-bit S912.

Why I'm asking this is because I'm trying to build a complete kernel replacement for the stock X92 kernel. The only missing bit from AMLogic kernel is the front panel display driver.
As I said, I found a old copy of the driver on the internets (two or three years old, it has been removed from newer AMLogic kernels), but it is very old and has to be adapted. I have disassembled the stock kernel, and I can clearly see that the driver used is the same, but it is clearly a newer version.

I know that X92 manufacturer violates GPL by not publishing the full kernel source code, but I know no way to reach them anyway.

                    Just for the record...
The answer for my above question is:
                    STB connected to GPIODV17
                    CLK connected to GPIODV16
                    DI/DO connected to GPIODV15
the old VFD driver is total, absolute shit.
I'm rewriting it almost from scratch.

Does this mean that it will not work at all on the 2GB model of the X92? Also did you mean to say to backup your current ROM in TWRP before flashing this?

Using the 3GB firmware on a 2GB box will probably Brick it

                            Here you are

                            A quest for the adventurous
                            Alternative kernels for X92
                            (both 2Gb and 3Gb variants)

A list of changes compared to stock kernel - HERE

                            No reflashing required.
The kernel boots off either a USB stick or a SD card.
Copy the files for your model into the root of a stick/card, insert it into X92 and reboot with the button inside the AV jack pressed with a match.
Hold the button pressed for relatively long time (10-20 seconds). If your USB stick has an activity LED, you can release the match as soon as it starts flashing, indicating read.
If anything goes wrong, just remove the card/stick and reboot, and you get exactly your old Android without any changes.
If you like the new kernel and want to boot it without having to press the button in the AV jack, there's a instruction how.

                            More detailed instructions - HERE
                            Download - HERE
