SPMC is not immune to bugs and the only issue i have with Kodi today is DTS passthrough - not the end of the world. It actually works fine if i remove DTS support in the sound options (it just sends as PCM with no slowdown) . At the end of the day, Kodi is just another interesting option to explore and it's a fine discussion topic for this thread in my mind because we all have similar hardware and the xannytech custom mod we're commenting on actually "comes with" Kodi.

Just tested this script in kodi 17 and ARR is working. The only problem ... video is laggish due to lack of amlcodec.
https://github.com/jeff2900/Kodi.AmL...tcher/releases
On spmc it works flawless! Disable ARR in settings if you have it on!

The boxes are capable of running linux too now anyway so if it came to it people can still run that. The spmc fork by koyring actually works perfect on my s905x though. I have had problems with auto refresh rate but I think the xannytech rom has that fix too.

Hi Xannytech, I've tried to flash your firmware on my S905X 1G/8G box by SD and Burning Tool. Both methods completely brick the box, needing a pin short on the nand and reflash to bring the box back.
Maybe there's some way of flashing only the system partition using TWRP for cases like mine? I think the boot partition maybe is incompatible and is bricking the box.
Thanks!

Your problem could be bootloader, but you wrote "brick" so or is a S905 and not a S905X or it's odd, a bootloader problem could cause boot freeze, or bootloop, not "brick".
Anyway a generic S905X without any info about the manufacturer or model it's not useful to receive help of any kind.

I'm attaching some pics of the board aswell.
This software works perfectly, and is the one I used to restore after the brick:

After flashing yours it won't even turn on, only shows a red light. it doesn't come back using the magic SD card method, recovery.img method or anything.
It only comes back to life doing the pin shorting on the NAND and flashing the above SW.
If you need anything else I'm glad to provide! Thanks!
