Just a thought on my experience with KODI freezing similar to your picture and not sure it is related to yours. My KODI was freezing when I was trying to use an "air mouse" and it was happening only with KODI on two different boxes, one was an H96 pro plus and another was a MeCool M8S Pro. I would get the exact same error screen you posted and my problems ceased when I removed the "air mouse". I replace the air mouse with another identical and the same problem returned. Like I said, this my not be the same cause as your problem, but just wanted to relay what I found. The freezing problem would not happen with any other app that I opened and used the air mouse on either, just KODI.

Hi I thought I would share this solution that I found elsewhere with problem of freezing using the MX remote. Before you click on the kodi app press and hold the pointer button for two seconds this stops the pointer then start kodi and when the splash screen opens click back on pointer button to enable and you don't get any freezing on starting

Hello guys, yesterday I received my M8S Pro (not L) and the first thing I have done is to remove original fw and install the one created by Magendanz. I knew that only the L version has the L1 widewine but installing DRM Info it tells me that this one has L1 too. It is possible or is only a DRM Info error? I tried to install Netflix but worked only Breaking Bad (at HD resolution) and other series play only audio or freeze the whole system needing a reboot. Anyone that has bought this unit in the last days has L1 in DRM Info? Thanks and sorry for my english.

For every one who want to change default Launcher, here a tutorial from 4pda .

First. Need a root
Install Root Explorer Explorer with root resolution.
I go to the system / app I delete the lancer VSLauncher2
Download Nova Launcher r from the market or it is possible with 4PDA, in the settings we allow lancher system settings, in the settings of Nova Launcher I make it the default by default, in build.prop I delete the line ro.platform.has.vslauncher2 = true
Reboot the box.
All at once you will have a Nova Launcher.

Hi guys! Just updated to 20171030 and I am very disappointed with this build. Let me share the missing items after the upgrade:

1. The official Google Play Store application is not anymore compatible with the device. It forced me to uninstall Google Play Store v8.4.18.V-all and an Android version 7.. came preinstalled. Of course the majority of the applications I use are not presented in this play Store.
2. Notification bar is missing
3. Navigation bar is not presented
4. Many settings from Settings sections are missing.

Could somebody be so kind and advise me whether I can downgrade with OTA application to the previous version 20170919, or i risk a brick if I use this method.

These changes will probably also be present in 20170918.111557.V0619. You'll need to go back to earlier versions like 20170817.103347.V0321, which were based on the standard mobile Android platform and not Android TV.

Thank you for the prompt replay, Magendanz. I will go with the previous OTA firmware MECOOL M8S PRO SD 20170817.zip. Do you believe that it is safe to downgrade with SD card and OTA application? Also this policy with the Android TV, can we expect it in every new firmware build?

Just checking the OTA update script for that OEM release, it won't let you install over a newer build. You'll have to use the burn package (.img file). Of course, that will do a data wipe, and so you'll have a "clean" install.

first of all he will not have another launcher, so he will pass it as a basic one. Also through the launcher settings you can define it as default

Thanks for posting information, worked for me too now I can have any launcher I like on my Mecool box

Before applying your changes I copied the VSLauncher2 app and build.prop file, just in case

My Mecool was already rooted and I used ES File Explorer to delete the VSLauncher app.

A little advice: u dont want to use ES File Explorer. Google "es file explorer secure" ? and u will understand why...
