so maybe a pysical damage is somewhere on your PCs USB HUB , maybe a cable with a small break or similar ,

how many USB ports do you have ??? , please as possible use the USB port direct on the PCB . Are you sure u

have installed the right Windows Drivers for your USB Hubs ??? It is really strange , if possible try it on a PC of

a Friend . Report ( if other Devices like your USB Stick / USB 2.0CRW & Keyboard work without problems on this

specific USB port , it is for sure the Box )

Obviously I reported all my issues to the support and still waiting for a reply.
The box cames to me with android 7.1 and had this problems:
- resolution was limited to 1024x768
- no audio
- can't power off
- a lot of apps (including settings) crashes when I try to open it
After a lot of reading I tried to do am hardware rest with no success, the I applied updated stock firmware and with the latest I found (september 21) I solved the resolution problem and the audio now works (when is unconfigured from the settings - this is a known bug) but still no dolby or dts passthrough working.
I found my actual firmware on this forum in a thread about stock 7.1.2. and, yes, is the better I found at this time.
PS I have no hardware mods, problems comes with a new boxes just from unpacking.

i got h96max newly and had same issues, 1024x768, no sound, some apps like antutu changes the rotation portrait mode even forced to stay landscape mode.
also most annoying thing is no home, back, screenshot, volume etc. buttons at bottom and notification bar on top. my old tvbox beelink m8 s802 was perfect about settings.
also no remote ip option for remote ime mouse apps (such as 192.168.2.8).
this tvbox is sold with broken, not optimized for android 7.1.2.

are there any solutions today? which fw, custom fw are best nowadays?

i couldn't change home launcher. i need to install actually old classic mediabox launcher which has so many useful options in advanced section.
can anybody upload classic mediabox launcher, how can i change instead of default launcher ? system warns me that can't install with same name launcher? also nova launcher crashes every time. :/

Hi ,

you can try to make a second System Launcher , install your favorit Launcher , use a App from Dev. Flaki

System App Manager , convert the Launcher u want to SystemLauncher , reboot and press thumbs .

This all only works with "root" , if the new Launcher starts and works good u CAN delete the other one

with a Filemanager , but only then !!!

Somewhere here is a Thread with "MediaboxLauncher" use "Search" , and most Roms here are .img Files

for flashing with Tool , think it is easier to create , good luck , no guarantee ,

fws are for which wifi 6255 or 9377 ?
i didn't open the box for it but guess it matters bcs used different wifi chipsets. could any app show me the chipset? or need open the case?

- 5G wifi still doesn't work
- Cannot download from play store (keep saying download pending despite no other downloads is running)

Honestly, I don't know what's fixed or added in this release apart from some applications update (kodi is 17.4 now).

EDIT:
- Download from play store eventually works, it just needs time (30 mins?) to initiate everything beforehand
- Using custom launcher seems to be working out of the box, tested with: Microsoft Launcher, Unwind Launcher, TVLauncher, HALauncher, Mediator Launcher (this one is less stable and crashes often, app bug probably though)
- Issue with sleep mode (single press of power button), it seems to kill power to USB port, so using 2.4GHz remote the device cannot be woken up after sleep
- Return of the power off = restart issue :/

Hi i am trying for more days to unbrick my h96 max but no luck until now.
i have tried all i saw over the posts but my pc doesnt want to recognize it, windows 10
neither my laptops windows 7
i tried different cables and different usb ports (all of them are usb 3.0)
I am not very clear here with the shortcircuit of this ones. should it be a with b and then c with d? or a with c and b with d? or all of them?)
next one im not very clear i press the reset button inside the jack keep it pressed and put the usb cable inside? and then the power ones? and when i shortcircuit it?

MaskRomMode pops up in Tool , eraseFlash after that , flash the Rom / good luck / gefattern

I am very happy, I was able to solve the problem, I did not need maskrom mode, I just changed the usb cable for a smaller one and the pc recognized the box and I could flash the rom normally and everything is working perfectly, but I always had some bugs and these bugs still continue,
could you tell me a no-bugs ROM for h96 max? THANks

nice to hear , you can try the CustomRom from here , but you can only use it if your Box has

AP6255 Wifichip , looks like the newer Boxes use the 9377 Chip or similar .

You can find it here . Use "search" like "H96Max Rom" normal , the first Link is the Rom , i mean ,

I installed the rom, but sometimes it hangs and only comes back after unplugging, but after pulling it out, it goes back to the loop again
