Have you enabled "Expert Settings" in Kodi Krypton (bottom left) ?
What about hard selecting HDMI in Android Audio Settings ?

Then Reset all Kodi Audio settings to Default (down bottom) and then Only select which Passthrough option you want. Do NOT touch the Channels number. Leave it on 2.0

Then Quit Kodi and restart the box.

I would also suggest turning on the AVR before booting up the MECOOL.

Mi Box has same Audio support as this ROM for Netflix and Kodi. There would be no difference. You very likely have a settings issue happening here.

Thanks, I'll give all that a go .....

      Minutes later !

After this set of instructions KODI would only play AC3 ??? No DTS ???
But now you have told me about Expert settings (thanks again) I can go in and find all the added permissions reset to OFF except AC3, so I have set them ON again and YAY AC3, DTS and DD-HD (Dolby TrueHD on the Amp) are all working.

Hope they stick !!! Maybe the HDMI hand shake is messing it up ??

      Big thanks,
      Pete

        Hi wrxtasy,

        Re-boot and the settings stuck

Great that KODI has proper manual controls, even if I couldn't find them without your help.

        Thanks,
        Pete

anyone has the official stock firmware as a IMG version? can't use the OTA zip file

please seems to complain about it here, not getting the IMG version : http://chinagadgetsreviews.com/downl...us-tv-box.html

I'm sorry, but this rom has too many issues.

          menus are laggy

after a short time it will go in standby, and you have to reboot it to get it to start again

videos in kodi makes the box freeze, and you have to reboot.

          everything is extremely slow.

it changes the language to Chinese all the time. If you change it to English and reboot it, it will be Chinese again.

flashing M8S_PRO+-V0321_Stock-20170825 should give you OTA update again
and then you can flash M8S_PRO+-20170715.093046.V0321-signed which i think is as close as you can get to the original firmware

Or just the 0825 stock rom may be all you need

There are also stock roms: M8S_PRO+-V0321_Stock-20170825.img, but Guest should know better.

                  edit: what clsA said.

                        Hi,

I tried to use the USB Burn tool but I could never get it to connect to the box ? Either got a standard boot or the TWRP Recovery thing ?
There is an IMG option in the TWRP somewhere, is that any use ?

                        Pete

                          Hi,

Follow this steps to connect the box to the pc

1- Install the USB Burning tool and make sure the drivers are also installed.
2- Because you have a few seconds to make this work, plug one end of the usb cable to the pc, and the other one, gently place (point) to the usb port in the box, but don´t plug in all the away.
3- Press and hold the reset button and insert the power jack, as soon the light change from red to blue, quickly plug the usb and release the reset button, should be easy because you already pointed.

I also find it difficult to connect my box, and this away works every time for me.

                          I hope it helps.

Yes, there's no need to connect the power cord. USB OTG will provide enough power. Just ensure the reset button is depressed when you connect the USB OTG cable.

This will not be permanent once you reboot. - but can be made permanent with an Init.d App and script.

Refresh switching will not work in Kodi Krypton.
Also needed for smooth Fractional video playback - Android Settings > Playback Settings > HDMI Self-Adaptation > Enable

                            Code:
                            chmod 0666 /sys/class/display/mode

wrxtasy About systemcontrol problem, I see in your http://wrxtasy.libreelec.tv/MECOOL/ there is a systemcontrol file, will this has to do anything to fix the problem.

If so, how to apply it?

BTW, for changing to 320 density and fixing auto refresh rate, using Kernel auditor app can do all this with ease.

                              Hi Magendanz and filipiruivo,

Will try new method next time - fingers crossed ....

I have previously tried out the Nano and ATV versions and the only differences I can see so far (limited testing and limited knowledge) are the Netflix App and the Youtube App - The YouTube App seems slightly different and has HD and 4K Icons on some Recommendations and content.

Can one install this version on the Nano build and will it work the same or does it detect something in ATV ???

I like the ATV front end, but it's such a pain installing non-available apps on another device and then extracting and transferring to ATV ...

At least "TV App Repo" app is a simple way to add sideloaded apps to the Leanback front end (learning lots of new lingo)

Don't have any games so I have put my CatchUp Apps in the Games section - Neat !?

                              Thanks All,
                              Pete

Sideloading doesn't have to be that much of a hassle. Just open Chrome and go to APKMirror.com, then just click on the lnk of the app you want to install.
                            Working...
