Just swapped the power adapter for another 5V 2A unit from my other S905 box (running Libreelec). Still crashing.
Any suggestions for things to try, or just bad boxes?
how are you progressing with your unit?

if I flash OEM build, boot to recovery, wipe data/factory reset: it says OK, it's very quick to format cache and data
if I try to do it AGAIN (reset to factory, reset to factory) - it freezes on second pass

if I reset to factory and boot, freezes at random points: black and white Mecool logo, bluescreen Mecool logo, sometimes get music part, sometimes freezes during music with resulting 'brp brp brp' sound

After extensive testing I did find a few problems. Firstly I found the 1080 P videos would freeze. I had issues adding a second account. I also had some issues with Plex audio output . So I switched over to the nano ROM in the other post and I have it kind of set up using an ATV theme using nova launcher. So far with this I find no problems whatsoever the box runs 100% perfect. I have 1080 P video and I think I will keep it like this. I sideloaded YouTube for android TV from apkmirror and also Plex is set in TV mode. since I had two boxes exactly the same is fairly simple to go back-and-forth and do a bunch of testing and so far I found the stability of the nano ROM to be the best.

Will Netflix ATV app work with nano rom?

I used USB Burning and flash TV Stock firmware (Nexus) 08.25.17. At the beginning (before installing software from Google Play) Settings app was working very well (or I know it was). Whenever I clicked on About option, Settings apps crashes. I flashed TV Stock firmware (Nexus) 08.25.17 at first. Then I saw some lacks and freezing. Then I decided to use original firmware. It has no Android TV interface. Then I flashed TV Stock firmware (Nexus) 08.25.17 again. What can be the reason to be freezed on clicking about option in settings?

What I saw is the cpu cores in this device were 3 pieces rather than 4 pieces. Isn't it quad core? Also cpu frequency is lower (1.0ghz) than it should be (1.5ghz). Screen freezes sometimes.

Also this device has very weak wireless connection. Due to this problem some applications crash.

I wanted to open developer options in settings app but I cannot click on about option.

I used M8S Pro image rather than M8S Pro+ mistakenly via micro SD card burning. It was frozen on firmware upgrade. Then I used the right image from this topic, but this time nothing changed. Blue led was blinking. Then I used to use USB Burning. Thus I succeeded to flash TV Stock firmware (Nexus) 08.25.17

          Thank you

              Hi,
I had the Settings>About-Crash Issue but after a clean install it is OK

It should. I don't use Netflix so can't really confirm. You would have to sideload it by downloading it from apkmirror instead of Google Play. The play store itself might say it's incompatible with your device so it won't let you download it from there. I downloaded YouTube for ATV and works fine in Nano ROM. Most apps that you find for Android TV you can sideload and will work on non ATV roms.

I was able to make a burn card but my box does also not recognizes this on. Can I assume that my box is completely bricked? I'm not getting any picture or response of the box. Now just a blue light of the led (maybe the red one died...). I just don't know what to do anymore...

I'm now getting the blue led but no signal from the hdmi port. And still no response in the USB Burning tool.

Finally I had the time to do some more work on my M8S Pro+ with Magendanz's great 20170815 ATV ROM.
After rooting it and fixing the file permission for frequency rate switching, I tried
both Kodi 17.4 (from the Play Store) with the Kodi.AmLogic.script.frequency.switcher addon and the latest FTMC Jarvis 16.2.31,
enabling the "Adjust Display Refresh Rate" setting for both.

With Kodi 17.4 the correct frequency rate is set by the addon, yet video is not smooth at all at 24HZ,
as it seems Kodi is not aware of the new display frequency (it sticks to the detected 50HZ rate set in ATV).

With FTMC the correct frequency rate is automatically set and the video is butter smooth whatever the frame rate is...
but almost perfect, since fast forwarding and chapter skipping somehow confuse FTMC and there be can some black screen
until the GUI is back (only once it hang completely).

I gave also a quick look at SPMC but I couldn't get audio passthrough working (if I remember well).

I know that Kodi will be almost perfect with LibreELEC, and I will try that, too

You are confusing regular tablet Android with Android TV. With this ROM you simply download Android TV Apps from the inbuilt Android TV Playstore - no need for sideloading or any of that non sense.
This ATV ROM passes Google checking so you can direct install from the Playstore.

Thanks, that is a handy shortcut

                            Great

                            So ...

                            ATV ROM
                            Daredevil - 1080p @ 4.22 Mbps
                            DD 5.1

My ADSL is only about 4.4Mbps

Karce just answered my question that will Netflix ATV app can work in Nano Rom? Sorry if I may have cause confusion.

if I open FTMC/SPMC and then play Netflix after that, I will get Netflix's error: tvq-pm-100 (5.2.5), which can be fixed by rebooting the box or unplug hdmi cable.
It will be no error if I just use only Netflix and other apps, like Youtube or Plex.
So I'm considering re-flash ATV Rom or maybe go to Nano Rom instead to see if the problem still persist.

                                Code:

Hi, wrxtasy did you do anything extra to get BT working. I received my Mecool M8S Pro+ today. I have installed the above Nexus ROM and Kszaq LE 8.1.1 and your dtb.img and remote.conf for this device. Everything is working so far except my BT usb dongle. It is a Volans VL-BT40 CSR 4.0, chipset CSR8510A10. I have tried it on both usb ports, and played around with the LibreElec config enabling BT, and the Kodi audio source including Pulse Audio/BT, but nothing works. The LE config says no BT adapter found.

I'm really hoping there is a solution for this as otherwise the box is no good to me. I don't mind buying another dongle if I have the wrong one.
