July Box version works well with ATV and Nano ROMs, just occasional random crashes.

It may be best to put a warning in Post 1 of the ATV and Nano/Stock ROM threads that flashing on boxes with OEM 20170829 and later may cause major issues.

I was told by GearBest to re-flash my OEM 20170829 FW box with the first OEM ROM .zip file, but this was bad advice, as a bad situation became a very, very bad situation !

the latest version of stock firmware is available now.
I installed it. Same problem persists. It only manage to get past the Mecool Splash Screen, and hangs where it says loading for the first time.
I guess the unit is defective.

Hi!

I'm new to this forum, but very interested by ATV port on MeCool units.
(AndroidTV onboard and DRM compatible, with LAN port, best combination for me)

With the new stock firmware provided by Trebor (cf. http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...v-box-20170927), did Magendaz will be able to create a new ATV rom for latest hardware units ?

In the same way, there is new MeCool M8S W units out there. Same specs, but AML S905W in place of S905X.
I really don't know if there is a big change software side, but unit prices on gearbest is really différent :
- $38.99 for M8S+ 2G/16G
- $31.99 for M8SW 2G/16G (same price as M8S+ 1G/8G.....)

What do you think ?

i have a box from july.
the only change i did was flashing the first ota released here to get atv version.

yesterday i did a factory reset in the settings because i wanted to use another google account.
i signed in afterwards and installed all my apps from play store.
everything was fine except netflix.
netflix acted weird.
i couldn't play any content.
after 5 seconds i always got an error message that netflix had problems i should try later.

so i downloaded the first atv ota again from july and flashed it in twrp.
wiped data and cache and rebooted.
i have set up everything and netflix works again without any problems.

i don't want to update because the first version works flawlessly on my box.
so why change a running system.

so as a hint:
doing factory reset from settings causes problems with netflix.
maybe some necessary files are deleted in that process.
ota flash helps in this case

Hi!

I'm new to this forum. Sry for my bad eng. Yesterday I was received from China/BG website, tvbox is m8spro+ 2/16gb.



I tried to flash Nexus rom [ota version] with the wipe button in original rom. After that box was restarted, update something and it was stopped at the "nexus" logo.


I tried to recover the box. I tried the sd card burning method and also by the usb cable, but no success at all.



1. sd card burning - many variants of rom, after restart, but on the mainboard there was not observed the reset button, only place named "k1" -> I soldered two points from "k1 place" to make a reset

2. usb cable: after that I was try by male-male usb cable and usb burning tool 2.0.8, Error result: [0x10105002]Romcode/Initialize DDR/Read initialize status/USB Control setup error


I tried 4 different firmware's, and the same happens ev ery time. Can anyone suggest something? I can copy whole error if it can help determine the problem.

Does anybody have detailed tutorial how to un-brick the box ?

Hello. I think this ROM isn't working on Mini M8S II or X96 or other clones of that boxes, but! I found 7.1 ROM for MINI M8S II (originally from U2+), that's pre' android-tv modded. https://quickfileshare.org/5ve/Lates...1_Firmware.zip . I didn't tried it, downloading now. Should work fine

I cracked this baby open and tada, Ive got a august version. wit the D/G Chips.

I always used USB Burning Tool Version 2.0.8, then I tried 2.0.5 and this tells me everytime that I have low power usb and fails at 1%.

With the 2.0.8 Version It runs til 98% and then fails. Is there a software Problem?

Try 2.0.5, choose img, check functions, press start and only then plug the box on. It should be OK then, i did it with X96. Also Try all ports on your Box, on X96 only one port is firmware-compatible

Unfortunately it has the same outcome. Sometimes its strange different errors with the same img, but in the end all fail at 98% and powering it on nothing happens

Look on 4PDA in Mini M8S II and X96 threads, there are solutions for 98% error
