Mine slightly better. It is able to run LE.
did you try to start LE with the button pressed.
I had it hanged before but once le loads up with kodi screen,(if you got that far) then leave it alone a short while before using the remote.
Edit: First thing to do if your box still didn't hang is, use the remote and Command Kodi to 'Reboot'.
This way for me let LE and kodi run smoothly.

the product team from geekbuying suspect it something to do with rolling back of firmware causing the problem. I asked them for the firmware that worked but no response till now.

We may use a better heatsink to get cpu cooler. I think this freezing problem is about slow cpu and high temperature. If we can cool it down much more, device will work more stable

The device that I have, did not have high temperature. I was using it for weeks before the recent upgrade, not convinced if that's the problem.
I also use it now with LE and it run for hours, no problem.

What is LE? Does it have Android TV interface. Because I don't like to have standart phone interface. It is useless via standart remote controller and it does not have chromecast, android remote control service etc.

              Thank you

                LE= Libreelec. It's a OS.

So I guess we probably have to ask the manufacturer for that 20170829 fw, I suspect that's the problem.
I notice the box is never overly hot either.

I suppose LE is independent of Android since it's a different OS. But I guess the FW of the unit locks the machine somehow so LE is not beneath it.

I guess time to write to geekbuying and manufacturer..

Update: I tried a few more times with LE, it kind of work so I can use Kodi for now. (1 hour plus and no crash so far on LE)
I opened developer options and set Force GPU rendering enabled. Also I set none for number of background process
(You can also close animations from this options)

After that I see less crash. Don't be fast. If you change apps fast, it crashes Let the device have a break

By the way, Could Magendanz can make an image which has Force GPU Rendering enabled as default? That might help reducing crashes.

That is if I can even get past the screen as shown on screen #423. I don't get past there when loaded with oem fw 20170815
When loaded with Megadanz's ROM, I was able to go in slightly more. But on most cases, it crash before seeing the 'Android' or the X splash screen.

Have any of you attempted the NANO ROM in the other post? I would suggest you try flashing that and use it for a bit to test your system's stability.

I had 2 boxes, both had ATV flashed using OTA... one froze often, while the other was stable. After I flashed both using the USB Burn Tool, both stable, however one less stable than the other (still random qwerks). I flashed the NANO rom on both boxes with USB Burn Tool.. Besides having to disable h264 5.1 on the boxes to prevent PLEX from not being able to process the audio streams, both boxes run 100% for hours without issues. I once had one box freeze on me while messing quickly with YouTube for ATV menus, but I think that was just me going too fast for the box.

This ATV ROM passes Google checking so you can direct install from the Playstore.
His question was not regarding this ROM, but instead the NANO ROM and installing ATV designed apps for the standard Tablet/Nexus OS. ☺

Tried this. Hangs within 5 seconds. Both with rom and LE boot. I think my box belongs to the garbage bin. Maybe Geekbuying will answer me someday.

satkingno geekbuying has been responsive to me. Did you use that email address that their webpage show? They didnt respond though over the weekend for me, started since Monday GMT+8 and within office hours.

Anyway did you try both the Nano Rom and Stock rom?
Strange really because the LE does work alright for me, on whatever ROM that I have; since the LE boots through the SD Card.

That could indicate a problem with the NAND chip or eMMC interface.

Thanks Karce, trying it out later the Nano ROM. At this stage I guess no harm trying it's so quick just to let burn disk write and reboot to see.
If it fail, I will still fall back for now on LE and use it for kodi only.
