If so, how to apply it?


BTW, for changing to 320 density and fixing auto refresh rate, using Kernel auditor app can do all this with ease.

I thought this ATV ROM was Rooted, so I had a look at this App (Kernel Adiutor) but Root Check and KA both say Not !?

Also Settings:About crashes the Settings App every time ? Should there be 2 Settings Apps in the System Apps list ?

It's not clear to me why they're having so much trouble detecting the factory root, but I can go into Terminal and type "su" and then use dd to image the partitions. That's pretty effectively rooted, in my opinion.

Yes, there's a bunch of tuner drivers in the NVIDIA Shield TV firmware that we could potentially borrow.

I was hoping that would be the case. As soon as mine arrives (maybe Wed) I'm hoping to start testing this exact option!

I like the ATV front end, but it's such a pain installing non-available apps on another device and then extracting and transferring to ATV ...

Install an Alternate Apps Store like:

https://en.aptoide.com/

You can directly install a bunch of regular tablet Android Apps then.

I also suggest installing a Rotation Locker App for tablet Apps that insist on running in Landscape mode instead of Portrait.

Well I reverted my box back to stock using the M8S_PRO+-20170715.093046.V0321-signed.zip in TWRP
It replaces recovery so be sure and flash the TWRP.img before you reboot.

This box is still slow and crashes allot, it's barely worth the $40 I paid
It does run FTMC alright but most apks crash as some point and the box totally freezes too often

Thanks but do you think this is going to help with google services crashing or the launcher crashing or keep Terrarium from freezing ?

well they conveniently made the hole smaller than all the other 5v 2a power supplies I have
T95z / H96 Max plugs are all too big

Low power causes all kinds of problems, your box should not be crashing, or freezing. That was just something to try if you already have an extra PS.

I am not really having major problems, just wondering why I might be getting different results to others. My trouble is I really don't know enough about all this stuff, but I have had some extra fun learning a little. I think I probably got something wrong along the way and need to try a reset and start fresh again.

When in doubt, a clean flash with factory reset (a.k.a. data wipe) is your friend. My preference is to just flash the Amlogic burn package (.img file) with USB Burning Tool, just like they do at the factory.

When I ran into trouble after too much hacking around - i just rebooted into TWRP recovery and did a:

Wipe > Swipe to factory Reset

and I have had no problems every since

As long as you're not making changes to the system partition, that should usually work.

I've got the Mecool box, initially I've used the update function to flash 25/8 TV ROM from here, device worked well, was able to install apps, etc.
after few days device started freezing, whilst idle, whilst booting, whilst loading, became useless, even froze with Android circles bootlogo screen.
Today tried flashing both factory image, and, TV ROM image, though still have probs, at one point, box froze with Mecool blue screen on boot.
Have I got a bad one?
What options in Burn tool to use?

I had:
erase flash TICK erase all
(force erase??)
erase bootloader
reset
overwrite key NO
