Temps hovered around 28° C. I unplugged the fan and it rose to as high as 45° (without freezing) but I had to run and couldn't keep watching it. thanks

- will it play my 78 rpm record collection? In stereo?
- does it come with a free Netflix subscription? What about Amazon Prime?
- a friend said I should hide my IP address before using certain Kodi addons, but I don't know where it is. Since I can't find it, do you think anyone else would?
- your last rom was nearly a very wonderful thing, but it wouldn't display my photo collection at 23.666 fps. Will this version do so, or will my slideshows play like slideshows?
- I just bought a second box on ****. The seller lives in Nigeria, but guaranteed fast shipping because he was going to leave out the power supply and remote. This is only a thought, but can your rom run without power? And could I control it with voice commands? I've seen a lot of Charlie Chan movies and am ready to try out my Chinese. Wait. Maybe it only understands Nigerian? Is there a fix? "

45 degrees Celsius (114 degrees Fahrenheit) is very good..

Update - my box works rock solid, after flashing to: M8S_PRO+-20170829.121614.V0321.img. I did it using Burn_Card_Maker, but first attempts wasn't good (filename image.img and update.img. It's interesting, but with filename m8s.img update process went smooth and I can't see any hangs.
I wonder if in that case I can try to update to the newest release of ATV...

I've been unable to try either Magisk or SuperSU because I haven't been able to successfully install TWRP recovery. Whatever proprietary AVB trick they're doing, so far it's proven pretty effective

I've done this on a different device and unsure if it would work on M8S Pro+ with new protections but would booting to TWRP loaded on bootable SD allow for install of Magisk.zip? Boot to TWRP on SD card with Magisk.zip loaded on USB.

Good luck booting to TWRP on V0619 firmware, even from an SD card. If you figure out a way to make that work, please let me know. My latest TWRP release for p21x reference boards won't work, and even new ones that I've built from the V0619 kernel aren't getting past the logo screen.

You mention that the latest firmware isn't pre-rooted, is it relatively straightforward to root the device if I flash your latest release?

I know the general benefits of rooting devices, certainly phones anyway, but what is the benefit of having this particular box rooted? Its my first foray into one of these Android boxes and so I am not sure what I may gain by rooting it.

Actually, it's not really a benefit on these devices unless you want to modify your firmware. Since some streaming media apps will refuse to run on rooted devices, it's a bit of a liability for the average customer.

Because of the proprietary AVB tricks they're doing on this last ROM, you can't easily install a custom recovery like TWRP that would allow you to install Magisk or SuperSU to root the device. That's not to say that it's impossible, but we just haven't figured out a workaround yet. However, you can always roll back to a older, rooted ROM.

Have done the OTA install of this on my Banggood 2g/16g m8s pro + build 20170815.182813.v0321
Now it will not boot up, it is stuck at the Mecool splash screen.
Have tried entering bootloader with the reset button, but no response

Opened up the box and it has SEC 713 B041 KLMAG1JENB memory chips

Next up is to try the burning tool, but thought I would post this to anyone else trying this with this model

Yes, i saw that, but because I had a different build I thought I could be safe. I should have opened the box before I flashed

i tried that and it hangs again, if u try a particular rom that doesnt hang let me know too

So I am one of the unfortunate ones with a problematic box, except that I have not flashed the OTA update or any of the ROMs that I wanted to try. I am currently running Libreelec from a microSD card. My questions is whether it is possible to burn the this ROM to a microSD card and boot up to try the ROM. I suppose if I manage to do that, widevine would no longer be accessible, unless it can be read from the NAND itself

I've no plans to do that. The performance running from microSD would be problematic.
