[ROM] Mecool M8S Pro L TVStock Nexus ROM (Android TV 7.1)

Clearly isolated to some issue with the mecool box itself.let me know the outcome.not all boxes are equal it would seem.

I flashed both superceleron and megedanz rom's with the exact same audio performance as the stock rom. Both those rom's are based on the original stock firmware so at this point I'm 99% sure there is indeed an isolated issue with the mecool box firmware & audio drivers.

I've reverted back to stock for now. Only option left is return for an exchange on the small chance a different meccol box plays nice.

Would it be worth putting my uploaded backup firmware from my box!hd audio passthrough works using mine.just an idea?could point to hardware or firmware issue.

I actually used your TWRP recovery to revert back to stock the first time to check exactly that. Think we've exhausted all ideas, time to send it back .

Can anyone confirm if this TVStock Nexus ROM supporting the BT voice control remote coming with the box ? I did a search but it seems no confirmation whether the voice control part works or not with TVStock ROM . Many Thanks!

Yes, the voice portion of this remote works with the stock firmware AND Magendanz's modded firmware.

The global interface seems very similar ?

GoogleCast is a bit more supported in Magendanz's ROM?
Is one of both more stable ?

And in both cases, is the OTA update safe enough ? (My PC is far from television, so it would be easier than the pc/usb solution.)

First off, you don't need to be near your TV to use the USB Burning Tool method, it is the simplest method of all, especially if you have a box with the reset button. You just hold the reset button as you plug in the male to male USB cable into the OTG port on your box, can't get any simpler than that.

I haven't seen much difference between Magendanz's Rom and the stock ROM, it appears that the Videostrong, maker of these boxes have copied what Magendanz has in his firmware. I have use several different ROMs on my Mecool boxes and right now, I am running the stock firmware from Feb. 5, and it is running great for me.

I have no reset button on the box (at least without opening the box), so that's why I spoke of having the PC close to the TV, so I'm able to type "reboot update" in a terminal while the box is connected by USB to the PC. Is there another way to trigger the update on the box ?

If you create the bootable disk using the Bootcard maker, then you may be able to use the terminal emulator to type "reboot update". That way you don't need to use your computer. If that doesn't work, then the best way is to open the box and short the two "holes" where the reset button is supposed to be. Then follow the update procedure using the USB Burning Tool method.......

Not sure if anyone have similar issue but I installed this ROM on my X96 Mini and when I installed Tata Sky App and login. I try to play any video it only plays sound and no Video. Same thing happens on Hotstar app. Is there anyway I can check what is causing this issue? Some library upgrade may help?
