[ROM] Mecool M8S Pro L TVStock Nexus ROM (Android TV 7.1)

Hello,

Having some troubles installing this ROM (via USB drive). Once the update commence I recieve the error that the package only is intended for M8S Pro L. Funny thing is that I have a M8S Pro L hence that's not the problem. Is the problem that I first need to instal TWRP in order to install the OTA .zip or must it be via a SD card? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks & have a nice day folks!

Noticed that there was a HW change on the PCB lately, possibly related to that since this box is a brand new one?

first of all these roms are installed using usb burning tool or updater app. depending on which version of rom you download.secondly if your box is new and it has LB at the end of the sticker at the back of the box if you install that firmware you will lose wifi and blootooth.it is not compatible.there is no custom roms available at the moment for the LB variant because of a new wifi module change on the board.stick with stock rom for now.

Looking at your screenshot I would say you have LB version because that uses 0213 firmware.new module is BCM 4335.

Hi there.

Im new to Android ROM’s and Android streamers in general so please forgive my ignorance if I’m asking a dumb question, I’ve done various searches but see no answer to this question...

Im looking for a streaming box that will allow both blue light filtering and dimming, to replace my PC which is currently doing my streaming and has a filter app. It seems full Android (non-TV version) is the only OS outside Windows with the apps I need. There are a couple of root access Android apps on the big Play Store that do it: f.lux and CF Lumens. I know there is a non-root app called Twilight that filters but it messes up the blacks as it’s just a dumb filter.

Can I get the MeCool, install this rom and then successfully install and use these root apps? The only other option I can see it Oreo which has a blue light filter, but I’m not sure if it also does dimming and Oreo seems a bit undeveloped ROM-wise so far.

A blue light filter changes the colour temperature of the display to decrease the blue/green end of the spectrum, this is useful as nighttime exposure to blue light is associated with insomnia. Dimming is as it sounds: reducing brightness.

Got the LB version yesterday, after first pair of remote, on logging in wifi and bluetooth didn't work..tried factory reset from menu and it wont go beyond the bluetooth initializing screen..doesnt show up on scans as mecool either.. Contacted seller who is reaching out to vendor..could it be s/w or hw problem ?

It appears that you are not depressing the "OK" button and the "-" buttons at the same time, and holding them until it pairs......

Sir, did that many times and that's when the red light starts blinking on the remote automatically and the remote shows up well in any Bluetooth scans as well, the box doesn't show up ever.. Yesterday I saw an Ota update of 80 mb downloaded it and thereafter did factory reset.. Reason for factory reset and choosing to do the ota update was that Bt and WiFi never worked so I hoped mecool update and reset might solve the issue and now we are here.. Totally Hopeless as this was the 32gb one and I paid up really heavy to get a doa box

They've brought out a new box with a cheaper broadcomm wifi/bt chip and hence the b I suppose . Sad part it doesn't work for me at least .. Can't even ship it back to China as costs are prohibitive.. Stuck

Yes Sir, stuck there. the first time I booted it I don't know how it worked but when I logged in the system couldn't enable Bluetooth and WiFi, so I took the ota update and reset and now I'm just stuck... I tried searching this forum for the LB stock firmware but that too I couldn't find unfortunately, to see if I can go back to the original baseline minus this ota upgrade
