April 12 is good for now.

I'm still going to try to get another July built (June build) tablet from Walmart - probably tomorrow. If I can get one and get it rooted, I'll let you know so you can remind me how to dump the ROM files

Looking forward to seeing that June build.

Having some trouble flashing my tablet tonight... everytime I flash either build date, both my internal and external SD cards won't mount... think I've found a fix for it, but it's very annoying...

04/12/13 Build Date

04/12/13 build date ROM is uploading currently. Will update OP when ready for download.

I had a horrible time trying to install this for testing. Both my internal and external SD cards failed to mount and my cache kept resetting on every reboot. However, I also had the same troulble trying to flash back to the 04/02/13 build date ROM, so maybe it's just my tablet... who knows, maybe I've flashed it too many times now...

Here is how I resolved my problems:

1. Turn Tablet Off
2. Remove external SD Card
3. Reboot to Stock Internal Recovery
4. Wipe Data / Factory Reset
5. Wipe Cache
6. Repeat If Necessary

Once I got the ROM working correctly, I can confirm that the build.prop changes greatly improve issues related to market compatibility and apps that won't launch or crash / freeze. Also, be advised that eFun / Nextbook switched the audio support files from ALSA to TinyALSA. I don't know if this has any pros or cons. Unfortunately, this ROM did not fix my HDMI out. I guess my HDMI is physically defective considering it has never worked for me.

What is your kernel version from "About tablet" in System Settings?

What is the ro.build.date in your build.prop file?

Would you like to dump your ROM for all of us?

Unfortunately, when i rooted my tablet, i did something and it got stuck in a bootloop, so i found this thread and installed one of your stock roms, so i dont have my original rom. There are some apps that i have installed (non play store apps) that crash on startup and they didn't crash with the factory rom.

have installed the 4/13 ROM and my app problems have been fixed. Rooted and the 2 from my previous post are humming along nicely. thanks again shaun!

it went smooth as silk. actually, this ROM flash was about 20 times faster than the original i did. when i flashed the older rom, took about 5-7 minutes before it got to the Reboot now part. this rom, only took ~2 minutes from boot up to reboot, then only like 30 seconds to root and reboot.

and i have noticed that the overall boot time of the tablet has gotten A LOT faster too.

just a question, but the images i see whenever i boot the tablet up, is there a safe, idiot friendly way to change those? including the Loading "Finger" screen?

i might be mistaken, but would it be hard to change the loading animation from a spinning circle to maybe a load bar?

I haven't looked closely at the file sizes, but I believe the new audio support files were smaller than the previous ones. This may explain the faster install and boot times...

The spinning circle is actually part of the background in the boot animation. This is VERY easy to change. There are numerous apps in the play store that offer a list of bootanimations to choose and automatically install them...

The other two images (actually 4, but our tablets have 2 pair of duplicates) are embedded in the various firmware parts... they can only be changed by repacking the individual image for the partitions they reside on and then repacking the ROM.

Unless you want to learn how to mod your own ROMs, you're stuck with whatever comes with each ROM.

I'm not making any modifications to the stock ROMs. They are intended to return your tablet to a factory condition.

Any ports I release in the future will most likely include the standard images from the source ROM.

If I do any custom ROMs, I'll have Tattman make some custom images for them.

So after days and days of trying to get my tablet unbricked and trying to get it to read from the sd in bootloader I'm still not sucessful. Does anyone know how to load the rom from ADB or fastboot?

This is exactly what happened to me, Shaun. Clearly, it is not an issue with the uSD card. Please remove the /system/app permissions change from your root script as it is not necessary and can only cause trouble!

I'm not going to attempt to root another tablet until I can verify this change has been made.

What method did you use to root that caused your boot loop problem? Did it actually keep rebooting or did it hang on one of the boot screens?

What is the mfg date encoded into the serial number of your tablet (first 4 digits)?

I rooted it with ADB commands and it worked great, then I messed with a file setting dealing with the WIFI and it just hangs at the finger with the circle moving around. The date is 0413
