Diff of 07/01/13 vs 04/12/13 builds

I ran a diff between the 07/01/13 build and the 04/12/13 build. Here are the results along with my thoughts about the changes:

Bootloader changed (updated or just recompiled? I still need to take a closer look at this.)

Boot changed (updated or just recompiled? I still need to take a closer look at this.)

Recovery changed (updated or just recompiled? I still need to take a closer look at this.)

Aml_Logo changed (updated or just recompiled?)

build.prop - ro.ota.version.id=V2.0.18.JRO03C.user.root.2013070 1 added (Over The Air update firmware version ID - I doubt eFun will ever offer any type of update...)

    build.prop - ro.ota.version, ro.build.date, ro.build.date.utc and ro.build.description - (updated with new build date)

build.prop - ro.vendor.name=YFMID added (Informational only. Makes no difference.)

    system/recovery-from-boot.p changed (New Recovery?)

system/app- Android Base Apks changed (just recompiled? hardware change? updated?)

system/frameworks- All Frameworks changed (just recompiled? hardware change? updated?)

system/etc/alarm_blacklist.txt added (no idea what this is for...)
    system/etc/game_diminsion_list.txt added (Gameloft fix?)

system/lib/egl - All Libraries changed ( hardware change? updated? just recompiled?)

system/lib/hw/camera.amlogic.so changed (hardware change? updated? just recompiled? )

system/lib/plugins/com.adobe.flashplayer changed (updated or just recompiled?)

system/vendor - face recognition support files removed (Camera Hardware Change? I don't think these were used by this tablet anyway...)

Thanks for clearing that up! It's been awhile since I installed it...

Onandroid never gave me a chance to install mkyaffs2image - it just complained that it wasn't installed! I found that fix in the XDA forum which was supposed to install it but that didn't work, either.

The Orange Backup app must have installed it, though, because it is in /system/bin now.

As for Flash Player, the July build date tablet is running version 11.1.115.22, and the tablet running your 4/2/13 ROM is running version 11.1.115.9. That could account for the difference, even though both are the same size: 68KB.

When do you think you will have a zip file for me to try? I'm not trying to rush you, just trying to get an idea about when it might be ready.

You can PM me the link if you want me to try it out before making it public.

I don't recall having to install anything extra to use, but it's been awhile... I'll redownload it and see if I need to update my instructions.

That would definitely explain the diff regarding flash player... It doesn't look like the newer build has anything exciting in it, unless I find something interesting in the bootloader, kernel or recovery, but that is more wishful thinking than hopeful. I just hope they didn't change any hardware like the camera... that would make it a real pain to support different builds with a custom ROM.

I've got system dumps for a few different model tablets that need to have the recoveries unpacked and modified and update.zip files packaged and uploaded. Unfortunately I've been really busy with work, school and family recently. I'll try to get them uploaded by the weekend.

I was wondering if you ever got anywhere with the cwm or twrp and cyanogen? Just got one of these and was thinking I'd take a run at it. Just found this place i generally run over on xda but the only dev on these tabs appears to be here

Some but not as much I would like. I've built cwm from source a day got it to boot but it doesn't support ubifs. Planned on converting our tablets to ext4 file system but found the partition layout and file systems are hard coded in the kernel. Not yet ready to try working on the kernel with limited source code available. Working on adding ubifs support to cwm. I think I'm close but I don't get much time to work on it.

I work nights so occasionally have lots of time. But that gives me a place to start looking then, may just have to fiddle a bit. Honestly now that I have root I want to do something about the terrible battery life. If I could get Cyanogen running on it Id be ecstatic. Now if I can get cyano to work on ubifs ^^

Christian Troy compiles CyanogenMod for Amlogic tablets, best place to start. http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/9204...te-2013-10-25/

Problem is namespaces need to be enabled in the kernel for multi-user to work and for 4.3.1 SELinux also needs to be added. CT released some hacks to work around those issues but I quit working on cm before getting that far. You need to add ubifs support to CWM or TWRP, Christian Troy released the changes needed somewhere in one of his threads on slatedroid, don't remember where. Here is his thread on TWRP. http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/4103...ry-twrp-v2600/

Yeah, I've been working with CT's stuff...

Yeah, those are the problems. CT dropped UBIFS support with CM10.1 and switched the AINOL series to EXT4. I've been trying to get his UBIFS patches to work in 10.1, but I'm not quite there yet. The kernels he uses won't boot on the Nextbooks.

It sounds like we are talking about the external SD card?

I've had this happen a few times. It seems to be related to a bad flash.

Can your tablet detect the external SD card from recovery?

Try wiping cache. You may have to do it more than once.

If that doesn't work, you'll probably have to reflash the ROM. It couldn't hurt to reformat the SD card either and redownload the files either.

What is the manufacturing date of each of your tablets?

Why did you flash a new stock ROM?

Which version of the stock ROM did you flash?

How long did the tablets work after you flashed the new ROM? Did they both fail the same way at the same time? Did you install an app on both that might have caused the problem?

Can you see the external SD card from recovery? If so, have you tried to reflash the same ROM again?
