I don't see this mentioned in the thread anywhere here yet, but I'm getting errors running YouTube TV. Some shows I can play fully, but others have the first few seconds play twice and then are followed by an error. Others go immediately to the error screen. Commercials, of course, always play fine.
I've been playing YouTube TV for months on my M8S PRO L, and I assumed that because this Mecool model also has WideVine L1 that all should be good. I'm paying $40 per month for this damn Youtube TV subscription, so this is kind of a dealbreaker for me.
Are we perhaps missing a codec on Android 8.1?

Youtube has been working fine for me but I don't have paid subscription or any purchased videos or movies in YouTube. All free videos work fine.

#395.1Guest commented09 January 2019, 08:16Editing a commentYes, YouTube has also been working fine for me, but it's the YouTube *TV* app that's giving me problems.
I actually went back to my old M8S Pro L and found that I'm getting similar errors now on that. It seems that YouTube TV is now following Netflix's lead in aggressively whitelisting compatible hardware.Last edited by Guest; 09 January 2019, 08:49.

Planing on updating my tv box from wetek hub (which is sh** for android)
Reading about problems with netflix and youtube, which would be the main reasons for me ... make me thoughtful ...
I am only running FHD equipment, so 4k is not a option for me right now.
Are netflix and youtube making trouble for any resolution? or only for uhd?
I am thinking about the KM9 or the M8S Pro L ...
But I would prefer the KM9 because of gbit ethernet. (Streaming mostly form my NAS)
That's why I won't use a mi box until they get a rj45 connection ...
Soo ...
tl;dr: Are Netflix/Youtube okay up to 1080p or are they blocking these resolutions too?

Haven't looked at product specs because of this.
Thanks for mentioning.

You can get an inexpensive Amlogic S905X box and run LibreELEC or CoreELEC on it, that will play Netflix in 720p and YouTube in 1080p. Unless you are running high bitrate UHD (4k) media, you won't need gigabit Ethernet connection.MK818B, T428, ATV 1220, CS918S, TV01, S89H, R89, ADT-1, MK808B Plus, MINIX X8-H Plus, Tronsmart Orion R68

Only thing I can't get running is the netflix addon for kodi and youtube only supports 720p.
But still can use my PC and a 10m HDMI cable, it would just be a QOL improvement.
Thanks anyway, I will keep my device a while longer. Maybe something will settle until I really need something new.
